Surviving Minnesota!

Well, i'm not looking forward to the cold tomorrow night and sunday. My girls holed themselves up in the henhouse today. My henhouse is not really set up for day long patronage. I had to add an electric water dish in there and some food. They usually only eat and drink in the run, so this is odd. But... Fi is still in the middle of a molt and half naked. She is the leader to where the other girls will go, if she don't go out, they don't go out. what can you do?

Will you bring Fi in the next few nights or will she be warm in the coop? I suppose the other hens will keep her warm.

Bad news.... My plow truck seems to have thrown in the towel! and i still havent found anything to replace it :(

i just refuses to start today! also i think the gas tank has sprung a leak. 10 gallons of gas i put in it last weekend and it is dry as a bone today. woooooof

Bummer Klops. Better sharpen the shovel

The folks directly across from our house run their own Chiropractor business and have a fancy sign that tells you the current temp and time. It says 2 right now. Tomorrow is just going to be harsh. Immediate frozen boger weather. I think I'll keep the ladies locked in the coop. they'll love that.

I'll probably leave her out there, but I've added 2 heating pads to be turned on tonight to generate more heat in the coop
Due to the sun, it is 25 in my run right now, so it will be a huge drop tonight, so I'll play it by ear...

So it's supposed to be -32 tonight for the low... as I'm sure it is for all of you. I was wondering if it would hurt to put a little space heater in the coop to help a bit? I'd mount it a couple feet above the bedding to make sure it didn't start a fire. What I'm wondering mainly is if home space heaters put off any fumes harmful to birds?

Thanks everyone.

Cluckies if he lived his life would haven't been any better. He would have been stuck in a feedlot til slaughter....

Ralphie I may give you a call tomorrow... The weather is nasty around here and feel terrible we haven't got to your place yet...

No problem, We will be at my grandkids until early afternoon. I am not going to waste my day watching football so I will be on the road when that starts.
