Surviving Minnesota!

We got about 6 inches of white stuff between yesterday and last night. The little woman will need to plow today. My shoveling is completed except around my coops.
Holm, I may be getting worried about you? That is not the type of chick which you are supposed to find a love interest with. Telling you not to get married does not mean to avoid human females entirely !!
Ralphie, I use the same kind of glasses as you. It is a pain having to use any, but the fact that they are reasonably priced is good.
Layers, perhaps you could invite Holm to branding when it is time and give him some roping lessons?

When I was a kid, I use to laugh when my Grandpa would give me his fishing line and tell me to put the line through the hole in the hook. I so understand that now. Trying to fix something with old eyes is not fun.

Layers should work on having him cinch a saddle, after all MnNice and I am looking forward to a party at the "joining"...

Well labs are back from NDSU on the cow... Its not rabies... Theyre doing more testing now...

You can all breath a sigh of relieve on that news..

@Bogtown Chick , I was just reading about lye and soap making. Holy crap. I'll probably burn my arms off. I may already be over my soap making adventure! Now I'll have to get more chickens to occupy my microscopic bit of free time.

Yes if you get one tiny granule of that lye on your skin...it will go right down to the muscle in a real hurry. SOooo... You need to wear long sleeves, pants, socks, rubber gloves and eye protection.

If you think about driving a car and how dangerous that actually can be....well you get used to it right? You get skills on how to handle that car. Same goes with lye and making soap. Right now I'm sort of naughty I dont wear the gloves and goggles like I should.

Thinking about one bad splash in the eye though...maybe I'll dig out the gloves & goggles for the next batch.

I have to rein myself in too when I get too many ideas. Although I made 5 loaves of soap and I've sold them all for pete sake.

Now I have to make a loaf just so we have some for our shower!

as long as he is ok riding an old nag who barely moves

Ahh, I did that once,  I found it to be a worthless waste of time. The legislators are more interested in pushing their political point of view than to actually learn anything at those hearings.  I pity her for the drive and waste of time.

Because of the budget cuts with her job she has to go testify for grants. She works with kids who have disabilities. She got promoted last year so shes the 4th or 5th highest in the state. But she doesn't travel, thankfully, much or interact with the kids anymore.

Yeah - that soap thingy. Really, no worries about lye. A person is so careful while they are mixing just because it is lye. Although I did spill one drop on a new wood floor. I have not made soap for years now and I used to make all our bathing soap and give it as gifts. After spilling one drop I made my DH do the simple kitchen in the basement i.e., base cabinets and a sink. I have a two burner hot plate to use for a stove top. Still haven't made soap again but considering it after reading BogTown. It was fun to do and experiment with. One of these days . . . .

Good morning! I love my Manuka, i'm stingy with it as well, but it is great stuff.

What are the ways you use it?  I'm putting some in hot water (not boiling) and sipping on it.

It got rid of my husbands cyst without soaking, or heat packs, it stopped draining in a couple of days, then was totally gone in a couple of weeks. I applied it to a boil I had, about 2 months ago, only 2 applications and it cleared up and was going away, never came to a head. It also works to get rid of MRSA better than antibiotics, which do not work on MRSA very well.I got that from reaearch. It is good to have in your sheet hits the fan stuff.

For lunch at school we had sloopy joes and mac and cheese.
The sloopy Joes had pork in them and the mac and cheese was nacho cheese and was basically clumped into a pile
