Surviving Minnesota!

@duluthralphie , you actually have to purchase a queen and some drones and bring them into your hive. The native bees do not colonize, they are loaners. I had heard that they can displace the native bumble bees or those small bees (forget the name) I think I read it in one of my bee books. Now, trying to find an article today, I see many articles that say yes, and some no. so I guess I need to do more research.

@memphis yes, I also have made a pollinator house, gonna make some more, I love my bees all over the dandelions and clover!

hence why I don't want them to go away.

It got rid of my husbands cyst without soaking, or heat packs, it stopped draining in a couple of days, then was totally gone in a couple of weeks. I applied it to a boil I had, about 2 months ago, only 2 applications and it cleared up and was going away, never came to a head. It also works to get rid of MRSA better than antibiotics, which do not work on MRSA very well.I got that from reaearch. It is good to have in your sheet hits the fan stuff.
Awhile back I got a jar of manuka for my mother because she gets ulcers on her lower legs. My brother went over and used it to make her some muffins!
He didn't know what it was, just that it was honey...

For lunch at school we had sloopy joes and mac and cheese.
The sloopy Joes had pork in them and the mac and cheese was nacho cheese and was basically clumped into a pile

Our boys basketball lost 54-52 in overtime.. I think we will do good at the regional tournament as long as we can stay ahead towards the end rather then go into overtime almost every game....

Also talked to one of the track coaches. He said i might not have to do the 100 hurdles!

I had a heart dropping moment yesterday. When I went into the pole barn the lights were off. I ran over to the coffin to check the chicks and the temp was at 39 degrees.

The worst part is I had been lolly gagging around in the house and drinking coffee so there was no excuse for my not getting out there earlier.

I did not hear a peep coming from the inside of the coffin. I changed the fuse and let it warm up before I opened the door. When it got back to 70 I started hearing some noise inside. At 80 I opened the door. All 8 chicks were alive and doing well. I knew I was over loading the circuit, I never realized I had actually went too far. The electricity went off at 3:30 am which is the time my lights go on.

My Dad only put 4 circuits in the pole barn when he wired it. I have a new box for there. it has 20 circuits in it. I moved half the stuff I have running to another circuit. I actually only have 2 I can use as 2 are for the welder. Time to get my butt in gear and change that. Those of you that have been here know how many extension cords I run in there.

Other than that nothing new here. I have anti-egg eating measures in place, I added a rollaway nest to the SS pen. I caught the remains of 2 eggs in there. I was getting an egg or two a day so I just thought the pullets were slow starters. I was wrong.

Again I think it started at the show in New Ulm. I had my birds from that show in the pen. It seems to be when one hen starts eating eggs they all do. They have a rollaway nest now. The Speckled Sussex are the most friendly birds I have. I do not try to make lappers out of them, they just are that way. When I was trying to put the rollaway in, I had birds on my arms, on my shoulder and crawling on the nest box before I got hung up. One of them grabbed the white foam I use to cushion the eggs roll and took off running with it. If you do not have a SS you should they are fun birds.

Maybe Jerry and EJB could get them for their first lap and petting birds, they are natural cuddlers....
