Surviving Minnesota!

. No fault of their own as I'm sure the hatchery sells them as so. I need to start a Farm and Garden store $$$$ =)

Ka-Ching on that idea. If I was not pushing 100 (but still a few years younger than EJB) I would open one near Princeton. So many chickens up there and they have only Cambridge, Milaca or Foley to pick from that I know of.

I am going to protest this! Ugly dogs have a right to have sex too! Dogs now, people next! This is a dangerous first step.

The problem with both is the dumb ones outbreed the smart ones .

Okay - caught up in the reading.

Welcome back lilmyn13. We did not meet before that I remember so it will be good to get to know you now.

BC - thanks for what to consider about the hens laying. Two coops, both in lock down for the main part of day - alllllll day today. Coup No. 2 had copper and six birds in it yesterday. When I got home there were five eggs. One bird is molting so that is a pretty good count. One is a production - CW - entering her second year so I expect one more year out of her. Pretty much every day no matter what season this past year. Wonder what the two CW will do this next year. The other hens just reach two years old and then a person needs to add the weeks it took for them to lay. So I feel I am okay there.

Coup No. 1 laid three eggs. That is where the SS and BO are. A few Gold Comets. This is not a good number as I am sure those three eggs came from the Gold Comets which are in their first year of laying. The SS and BO are just entering their second year and I am sure are just taking a break and will start in again. No lice or mites - been following that closely and yes to the layer feed, few treats and then some higher protein food too.

Destiny - love the color on the recent hatch.

ILL - you have redhair? EVERYONE but me had red hair in my family. I am the 'lil indian.' One has strawberry red, then carrot red and then auburn red. Then there is me. LOL. I am special.

Have a good day chickeners. I am going to run around and get a few things done as this is going to be a run around day in a vehicle.

Well then ivie it sounds like you are not doing too bad then? I'd give those other hens time too. The molting one for obvious reasons: her protein going into feather making.

Cooler day today. Muddy ruts are frozen again for the day. Then warm up tomorrow and rest of the week.

DS starts golf practice tonight.

Jerry, although your one post was not 100% politically correct I believe it was 100% accurate.

Ivie, I can not resist inquiring as to what color hair did the milk man have ?

Ralphie, I thought of you a couple minutes ago as I picked an egg out of the nest box which a Wheaten Marans hen had laid. They do add color to the mix.

They do. I just don't know which I want yet. I wish they came in a APA approved rose or cushion comb...

I find the term "milkman" funny. I know most of you think of is as the guy that use to bring milk to the door, I always think of it as the guy that hauled the milk to the creamery.....

I wonder how many of us even remember a "milkman" My grandparents moved into the city (Zimmerman) when I was young and had a milkman. I remember thinking even then it was funny to have a guy bring milk to the door.
