Surviving Minnesota!

The list is always subject to change. At the same time I am really thinking I would like a decent line of white Chanticlers.
Downsizing, huh?

Chickmom3941 banana belt was derived here on BYC when we were in a long winter delirium and somebody was bragging about 5 below instead of 25 below and claimed he had to watch out for falling coconuts.
I'm surprised he wasn't strangled in his sleep. Frozen car doors must have been his only saving grace.

Thank you all... DnL! and Lvie! You guys are so generous with your thoughts.
I hope to get back to talking about chickens more so than anything. But I must say I appreciate the supportive outlet here and you marvelous people are more supportive than you know with a few key strokes. I'm a lucky girl.
Lvie one sister about an hour away from Mom and one in the South Metro. The South Metro sister did ALOT of running while dad was in the hospital and the other family also did alot in St. Cloud. I was there too but also maintaining a happy boss at work and kids with jobs and so on so forth. We all communicate well with eachother for the most part. And thank goodness Dad still has Mother.

Oh Gosh TFred. More photos of the girls practicing and Rooster....I'm a chicken photo junkie. My fingers are crossed for you. The practicing can be a couple weeks...but hopefully it won't be long. yeah....him waiting on the ramp is a good sign. All good signs.
Sometimes the coop if insulated is also a cooler/shady spot to be on a warm day. But I will be thinking positively that it's 'practice'.
Here's one of Sentry guarding the girls.

Hello everyone!
If any of you are tired of rain send it back here. We are not in the worst category anymore but still in the 2nd to worst.

Had to kill 2 pullets today. Long story short. Predator got the last night when mom and sister did not realizd 45 chickens were not in coop. They got one leg eaten off basically.

We're thinking about going to the swap meet this morning. We love swap meets - you never know what you'll find, and sometimes there's great bargains! They also have lots of good produce from local farmers there. My birthday is in a few weeks, and hubs said if I find something I really like (not talking about produce!), maybe he'll buy it for me as one of my b-day presents. Don't have to twist my arm!

Goodmorning... At Rollag this weekend so won't be on much... Anybody else going to Rollag/WMSTR?

Which "swap" and where? I might have to give it a try someday.

My Mom is there look for a senile old woman with some square dancers dressed in funny clothes...

I went for a stroll in the woods this morning. It was a worthwhile stroll.

For you non-mushroomers. The large ones are Hens. I only found them at the base of one oak, I think the shrooms are late this year, the mosquitoes and poison Ivy where right on time..

The bottom right are Black trumpets, my first time finding them. I will be eating one in about 3 minutes.

The other two are a Bollete of some type, I am 80% sure they are safe to eat. I will do spore prints and throw these away. I have a book that tells you what Bolletes to not eat, these are not listed in them. The color and bruising appear to make them edible. The only way to be sure now is spore prints and serving Judy a meal of them on the sly...If she is ok next week they are fine! :lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau

We went to Duluth to eat last night, it was my daughters Birthday. I am now officially old, She is 40. I cannot believe I have a 40 year old kid....

Nothing new on the chicken front. Layers sorry about the lack of rain and predators. May the predators die a painful death, soon.:thumbsup
