Surviving Minnesota!

Yeah, who needs to see and breath anyways?

What part of the state is on fire? IS it close to you? As you can see I am right up to date on the news.
Nothing real close, but always more worried about the ranch than here close to town. Just remember, folks, always keep defensible space if you live in an area that has a "fire season" instead of summer.

LOL the B. Just kidding. She is always foolin me! Hey - just heard that a person chewing gum during a fearful time is more calm. The chewing action tells the brain about good things and fear and chewing do not work together. I prefer narcotics :lau some sort of tranquilizer. Actually did chew the gum during a medical test this past week and it seemed to help.

I being a little bit of a coward would start crying when we were about 10 miles from the dentist. The sound of those pulleys and the hammering of the drill in my mouth was more than any 7 year old could handle!
'Even thinking about it is making me shiver in fear.

BTW Your sister is lying!
I remember dentist visits... I only lost 4 baby teeth on my own. Rest were forcefully removed because they wouldn't fall out and my jaw is small so I had to have spacers to stretch my jawbone. When it came time for braces, I cried mercy. No braces for me! I just have crooked teeth, and it's just cosmetic for the most part anyways.
Highly dislike dentists.

yep. He would get that drill in there, no water to cool off the area as he drilled, and I would be stiff as a board in that chair holding onto the arms on the chair. OMG! And I do not say that very often - ugh! Not a good memory. My sister says it never bothered her.
I also remember holding onto the arms of the dental chair for dear life. One time, after it was over, when my mom came in (and I had run for cover to the reception area), the dentist showed my mom two little puddles of sweat on the armrests of the chair where my hands had been. He really got a kick out of it, I guess. I personally didn't find anything funny about it! Surprisingly, I don't really mind dentists anymore (with the exception of a very traumatic procedure a year or two ago) , but am scared to death of doctors...

@destiny_56085 kangaroos really? are they legal to own here? do people eat them :sick

I'm not quite sure why they have some of those animals... I have a friend out in SD that raises all sorts of those critters. The kangaroo was cute in its little diaper though... I don't want one though!

I've seen several types of fox down there for pretty reasonable prices The red/greys ranged from $150-400 each. Saw a Fennec fox once but didn't see a price tag on that one... Lots of skunks in several variations (albino, roan, lavender). Friends of mine from both IA and WI each bought 1 for $400 (bottle fed, descented, litter trained). Those however were illegal to bring into MN though... There was a porcupine in a dog kennel but I didn't get too close to that bugger.

The amount of puppies at that swap is crazy, some purebred, others the hybrid mutts. Last swap a guy had Tibetan Mastiff's there.. Had to admit the parents looked pretty much like huge wooly bears. Lots of the Pyrenees, maremma, farm type dogs. Of course tons of ankle biters...

The birds down there amazes me.... Tons of peafowl, the ornamental pheasants, ducks, quail, pigeons... You get your exhibition breeders there as well as the cheap farm birds. Llamas, donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs.

Best part- its like 1 huge redneck congregation!!!!! People camp and grill out together, the kids have a blast. Its not like those local swaps up here that are over in 2 hours... People have a couple days to socialize. join our Facebook page to get a preview of some of the stuff coming.

Yep - the braces. Yee Gads. Anyone remember those sharp edges and the soreness after they were tightened. I had three sets of front teeth. One had to be removed surgically and four teeth pulled before the braces could go on.
I am a good purchase now (checking the horses teeth) haven't had a problem in years and years.

Sylvia spies with her one good pirate eye... chicken of the sea!

She's coming in beautifully. She has always molted and finished early. Head feathers back covering a line scar from her scalping this summer. Tail is almost in. Shoulder feathers. She needs breast and abdomen feathers yet... fluff I think is about in...

I did not require braces as a youngster...but DH did (norwegian teeth in a swiss mouth) The twins have come in straight and we've been told they do not need braces either. Thank goodness.
I do have molars loaded with Mercury fillings though. How lovely.
I have to get a cap on a tooth. I've been putting it off for about 10 years. I suppose that thing will crumble on me one day. Should just get it done. But the last one I had done was a hack job. We have a different dentist now. Kids love her...I like her. She seems competent...IDK...

The whole sibling weird competition with cavities. Sister would have like 3 cavities...and the dentist would tell me I had 8... :th

I don't mind Dentists, but usually do not need to go to them. Last fall I had a tooth break and so went in for extraction. It had been 16+ years since I last went, and I had no other problems. As in cavities.
It is still wet here by the big lake. Seems almost like it rains 7 out of ten days ? The creeks and rivers are full as are the lakes including Superior.
Hope Jerry has an uneventful trip this time.
Off to shipping birds for a race tomorrow. Hope it is clear and cool for their intended flight home. Season has been tough so far.
