Ralphie, the birds placing is determined by calculating the speed traveled in yards per minute of time flown. A tailwind can be helpful to birds on the long end, but in this case the birds will be traveling in an Easterly direction wind along the whole race course. This will not be helpful.

Thanks, I know you have said that before, I am just fascinated by the idea of pigeon racing and all it entails.

I think I may have to try this someday..and put a little go camera on his head so I can see where is is going..
 
Friend of mine in Missouri used to race pidgeon. Fascinating sport. What impressed me was how muscular the bird felt when I held it. Unlike the slackers lounging in my back yard. They also seemed to make good pets.
 
@ejb3810 what color would this be called? My friend has these along with some whites and red checks but she didn't know what they were called? They are racing pigeons that she got from a breeder but can't remember what color they are??
