Surviving Minnesota!

I got up at 4 cause I couldn't sleep, went to bed too early. So I did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen.
It's foggy, cant see across the lake but it should burn off and be sunny today- I hope.

It is clear and cold here this morning and another good day to work on outdoor projects.
Ralphie, you had best get cracking on completing projects as you soon will be on the campaign trail ?

Oh h h - had that first much needed cup of coffee - its not that I want to stay in bed on these cold mornings - honest, it does not cross my mind. Waking up seems so much more difficult to do. :bowRight Erlibird? Have you always been such an early riser?
My d-i-l 14 year old niece went off a horse on Monday and hit her head. You guys - she died. I did not know her at all but the audacity of death and its indiscriminate selection of when to come is overwhelming. This young woman's father (d-i-l brother) passed suddenly about five years ago after a simple test (colonoscopy?) at a hospital. Her mother was with her when the accident happened. I always told my husband to enjoy his kids right now because there are no guarantees that they will be staying around. I guess that is true about everyone huh? So young!

Ivie, I am so sorry to read about this death within your extended family. An accident while enjoying something that should normally provide a pleasurable experience seems like something doubly bad. The old adage "live for today as tomorrow may never come" although depressing to a degree is true. In my experience there is nothing more traumatic than the loss of a child.

How horrible.
I remember when I was in jr. high and a class mate fell off her horse and died. So I freaked out when my sister fell off our horse and had the wind knocked out of her, I was so scared that I went over to her and kicked her in the side! she was kind of mad at me but said she was able to take a breath then.

Yes I was always an early riser since age 1 my mother said.

Ivie ~ My thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended family as you grieve the loss of a life that was taken to early. :hugs

Morning all.

So sorry to hear about the horse accidents. Having been removed from the back of a horse, by the horse, more times than I care to remember is why these old bones will not crawl up on another horse.

I saw the cardiologist yesterday. I need to have "a procedure" in a little over a month.

EJB, I was at an event the other day with the two other people running, I was not impressed one is about 12 years old and moved into the district 6 weeks ago...if it was not politically incorrect, the word "carpetbagger" would be used.

The other is mid 40's neither has held elected office before, both seem to to be switching their 'views" to that of the crowd they are with. I can't do that. I am now re-thinking it all. With the surgery coming up and the caucuses on Feb 6th. I am not sure how "campaigning" and recovering would work. There is an event on the evening of Nov 13 and my surgery is the 14th. Not sure I want to risk my life over an event.

I am not a person driven to be in office or that needs to be. I thought I could do some good, but I am not going to do it at all costs. My grandkids are the reason I wanted the job, but I want more to be here for my grandkids. Your insight is always beneficial.

I'm sure all the MNers here will vote for you, and the non-MNers will go and hold rotten eggs to the rest of the voter's noses until they change their vote. Don't even have to worry about campaigning that way. :thumbsup
