Surviving Minnesota!

MNChickMom will you take some photos this weekend with your Samsung? LOL. My sister has a Samsung and I have to say her photos are extraordinary with that phone. If I didn't have kids that required me to keep that Apple account open...I would probably switch. The kids want their own Apple accounts. They need a credit card to do that and I'm not willing to put my financial life in their hands, quite yet. Although I'm sure it would be fine. I just don't want to do that. But maybe next phone purchases will be to ease out of the Apple world.

My mom won't let me put her credit card on my account either lol! I do have my own card but am too lazy to hook it up... I spend a lot more money than my siblings so I got my own card so my parents didn't always have to pull cash out for me lol

Jerry: It was pretty gray and ugly here yesterday. But the wind was blowing like hades out there and it's now blue and cold. No leaves left on the the trees. I don't like this time of year. Not a favorite time.
Sounds like you guys are good on water.
Sister wants me to winter those two little hens for her. Her coop is small and getting them to meld with 3 older territorial hens when confined for winter is not something she wants for them. I'll get them to her when snow breaks and her birds begin free ranging again. Right now they are still small and dependent on each other. Peeping when lost or out of sight. I told her if she takes one now she might want to take the brooder mate.

Holmes you have your own Debit card for a savings account or did you set up a checking? That's a good solution isn't it? Intrigued to know how your Mom and Dad have you set up. For my kids as well. DH works at the bank so he can check on things and pull out cash or whatever but still curious about how you do it...

I have my own debit card. That had an account for each of us set up like a joint account to there's.

So I've been worrying myself over this whole "the coop needs ventilation but not a draft" issue I keep reading in articles about coop building. I have the four windows open on the north side of the coop and we have the roof open under the cupola (plus we haven't finished the ridge cap yet). I went out to set up a dirt bath for the chicks today, the wind is blowing, up to 50mph they're saying, and there isn't even a slight breeze in the coop. And the chickens have been locked up in there for a couple weeks due to "fox watch 2017" and it's not even a bit ripe in there, we haven't finished the floor yet so I only have two bags of shavings down. I think we might be okay for the winter.

Is it drafty? The birds are way tougher than we are. They will do fine. I try to keep the doors and vents on same side. not always though, some times things just don;t work right around here..

I have tried to block them out of the rafters in the back of the coop where I get moisture build up now and then. That seems to work. If I did that in the front I would have ticked of birds and be hitting my head on the roosts more than I do now.

Good luck,
