Living in the Banana zone like we do is sure rough...We have to express empathy and sometimes sympathy for those not in our tropical clime. Those up north, I feel the pain of your nasty cold weather....

Those down south, I feel the pain of your nasty snowy weather....Be careful when shoveling the snow, Way too many men die shoveling snow...I suggest you all have your wives shovel for you......

My wife has drawn a line in the snow when it comes to shoveling in most cases. I believe that shoveling is good exercise and is a factor in reaching my age and still being relatively active. It is a change of pace from jogging to the kitchen and refrigerator.
My wife plows and I shovel unless it requires two to shovel for access to the plow vehicle within a 24 hr time frame.

I take the practical approach...I allow her the exercise and I sit near the window with a phone in case she falls down and is not back upright in 10 minutes or so,,,,,,Then I call 911.....

This is what my wife does . Well minus sitting by the window to watch . I have to phone her if I fall . 911 is less numbers . Anyway that is how it worked when I fell off the roof . Did not get up to see what that big thud was on the deck .

I understand........I feel for and can Identify with you......Once is a great while I might stretch the truth as to how things work around this farm...

I don't think we are supposed to get any more than an inch today. It's been snowing off and on for a while now. Tomorrow is supposed to be nasty cold though, the high is -3, and the low is -10. Those numbers are always for town, so it'll be colder up on the ridge where it's always windy and colder. I've been opening the door for the poultries every day and mostly only the ducks will go out. I've moved the water to right in front of the door so the chickens don't have to go far. I lost one of my young scovies, that was the day it was -14. I'm guessing they just haven't had enough time to really get any fat reserves on them and that was just too much cold. Hopefully the rest make it through until Tuesday until we are supposed to be back up into the 20's, wooooo hoooooo, it's going to be downright tropical again!

Snug chickens now that I tracked down some straw. Looks like it's keeping them busy trying to find the bottom of the coop. It's up to 5F now.
