I think my bird-bath deicer in my bucket is 250W, their heater is 60W, but it is built in, so.... I still think we need some testing...

PC?Looks like some minor frostbite on Sentry's wattles. When things got real cold this week, I went to a rubber pan with bird bath heater in It. Guessing while we were gone he got them wet drinking. Maybe I'll go back to a quart waterer that I swap several times.
The pan hasn't frozen at all outside, but I don't like the frostbite.
Yep. Coconut oil? Or just change back to the waterer rather than the pan?PC?
Frostbite stinks. Even my PCs have some now.
The males on the right and left are the ones with frostbite. Middle one has been untouched so far.

I would change back to the other waterer if you're dedicated enough. As for coconut oil, that's personal choice, but it's not going to heal frostbite that has set in already.Yep. Coconut oil? Or just change back to the waterer rather than the pan?
Yep, winter water is not very much fun. Even my female birds are getting frostbite on their wattles this year... most likely during the day when they do not have their heads tucked in, I'm thinking. Then I won't worry about the oil. I just change the waterer a couple of times a day. I really liked the other setup, bit don't know how to keep him out of it.
So I'm learning. Last week they finally quit laying too.Yep, winter water is not very much fun. Even my female birds are getting frostbite on their wattles this year... most likely during the day when they do not have their heads tucked in, I'm thinking.
We ought to organise a group flight to the Carolinas. So I'm learning. Last week they finally quit laying too.
