Surviving Minnesota!

MargeretAnne, Destiny who comes onto this thread keeps an official or unofficial record of swaps, show & etc. Should be able to find her under Destiny Acres ?
A side note. Many have the impression that Icelandic chickens would be a very cold hardy breed, but the climate of Iceland is much more temperate than our area or much of the Northern U.S. for that matter.

We normally get smarter as we age so we tend to do less of those foolish cold things.....What happened? Did you fall and hit your head? :gig:gig:gig

What happened is my knee . I did not deer hunt much . Only been out 4 times rabbit hunting . Usually I would have gone 20 times by now . So boredom got to me . I figured a short walk on the ice would be doable .

So the secret method is a good beak trimming . Until it bleeds . Have blood stop powder ready . This will be sore like when you trim your nails too close . Hurts to bang on a egg so they quit .

I was correct. The beak is not taped shut Banty. It is just modified. Not a technique for the faint of heart !

I understand the knee,,,,When you get so bored sitting around because of being crippled up you have to do something or go stir crazy.. Seems I spent most the summer that way.

Ralphie, Jerry had a mild reaction which was to go ice fishing. You on the other hand have an extreme reaction and are running for public office !

I have done that before, but it was by accident and on a quite well behaved rooster. No worse IMO than chopping much of the beak off factory hens.

Though I have to admit it seems simpler to move the cutting tool a bit farther up on the neck & not have to worry about potential going off feed issues.
