Surviving Minnesota!

I caught two Buckeye Cockerels and an EE Cockerel gang raping a poor little Pullet today. So I tossed the leader in with the Buckeyes hens thinking they would knock him around and he would learn a lesson but he managed to beat up all those crabby beasts up! And then went and bred the one that fought the most! I am not kidding when I say this is the most high strung little shoot I have ever raised! And nobody had been able to beat him up yet! And he’s the one I’m keeping for a breeder....

Got an Orpington and Silkie egg today... Silkie egg was froze but the Orp egg was warmish and hopefully fertile!
I got 5 eggs today, 4 leghorn and a mutt. I win.

Still no Ameraucana eggs. I am contemplating overcoming my fear of electricity and coops and putting a light on those buggers. I wanted to have chicks on the ground in a month from now.

I put lights up with no issues yet... Except get plastic fronted inside lights and not heat lamp bulbs...

So tonight the kids have poultry knowledge bowl practice. I have been taking them for the past couple of weeks and helping them study. Tonight, they are going to practice with the buzzer system and it is kids versus parents. Guess who is sitting at home in her jammies as she is not the preferred parent tonight!
I wonder why.

Is your team going to the invitational meet next week?
