Surviving Minnesota!

EJB I think the whites are easier to raise than any colored bird. They seem to do much better at the shows simply because there is no doubt as to the color pattern.
However, I am not going to throw the towel in on my PC. I really like them. I am realistic enough to know I will most likely never beat Mr Gilbert. However, I think this is because the judges like his darker birds and I like the ones with a little more color to them.

BUT someday it might happen..If I live to be 109.

Yesterday we started out the day at +33 and today we start at -6. Now that is a variation. The weather in the Northland can be a challenge. High today is forecast at 19 to 24.
My hens have commenced to lay again due to the lengthening hours of daylight and actually seeing the sun for a few days.
Holms must be doing his school work as we have not seen anything written by him this morning ?
erlibird is not early today, and I notice that lately she has not been on every day. She must be busy with other activities?

Holms, I think you have confused your roosters as a result of this AI adventure ?
Nice crappies. It looks as though you are a crappie catching machine.

Related to the photo of Jim Fegan's White Chantecler, it looks much like one I got from him. Sadly my whites are gone now. I think I may throw in the towel on the Partridge and go back to the Whites and Buffs.

It is my opinion that breeding Partridge birds (especially in a breed like the Chantecler) is a good endeavour for nutcases that have an extra 50 years or so to spare. I don't know about said 50 years, but I am certainly a nutcase—hence my start in them.

Note to my chickens:

Yes- I am still an early riser but sometimes do other things before logging on :idunno
We had a house guest last week, my MIL and she is sweet but consumes a lot of my time.
I don't think her alzheimer's is worse but she is physically going down hill. She will be 91 soon and isn't very active so it's to be expected right?
