Surviving Minnesota!

Oh No... cat salesmen! :barnie

I’m not sure I want to find out about the perverted toads...

I do want to know when you guys would suggest starting a flock. We were thinking of ordering our chicks at the beginning of March. We have plans for 25 chicks altogether and a pair of goslings... any input?

Do yourself two favors. Do not start with chicks but with started pullets. I know they won't be as cute as chicks but are much less work and provide eggs sooner. Number 2, forget the geese. they are extremely messy, noisy and can be aggressive especially toward small children.

Over the last couple days it has snowed about a foot here and is snowing again this morning. We are already above average snowfall for the month and more is in the forecast. The only positive with that is it is likely to stay above zero.
BC must have gone south on vacation and based on Jerry's recent reports he is south on winter R&R.
Nice photos posted by all. Keep up the good work.

I agree with @ejb3810 in terms of starting with started birds. That is what I did and it was way easier and I learned more than if I had started with chicks. I also agree with the no geese, they are cool looking but kind of worthless, people get the notion that they will protect your flock but from what I have heard they will be the first to run away, unless they are Egyptians, but Eqyptians are nasty birds

I started with 45 hens and a coop drug over from my neighbour's place. Nuts? Me?

I don't like geese either. I do LOVE ducks.
Ralphie is also an avid goose hater, but he dislikes DUX too so one has to doubt his sanity... :lau

Well...I have gotten the impression that Ralphie is just batty already. But I better watch what I say before he sends his Hulk Chickens after me.
