Surviving Minnesota!

This Pullet finally started laying so she is going to be put in the Toad 2.0 pen... I’m excited for my first Toad babies... I think I have two in this first batch of eggs that will go into lockdown on Tuesday.... if it weren’t for the few light colored feathers by the tail I would use her for PB breeding... I wish she would show of that tail a little more but she doesn’t when she’s outside... Stinkin birds... Looking at this pic there is no way she will ever go to the Buckeye breeding pen.. She has a terrible head on her... And that’s a deal breaker for me... Buckeyes need a BIG solid head...

I have placed my last chicken eggs of the year into the incubator.
185 eggs 62 Legbars, 2 Olive eggers and the rest are either Dom's, PC or a few SS.

Some of the eggs are a tad old.....because of the cold winter it took this long to get enough to incubate.
Hoping for an Easter hatch are we?

I set eggs today as well. Only 48 though. Last batch except for cream legbars.

I removed these guys from the Hatcher today. Don’t tell the other half they are in the house though....I could get the heat mats to work out in the coop. I am not that skilled in attaching a heat lamp securely without tons of 4 letter words so I improvised and said screw it. There are only 20 some. Toss them in a house brooder until tomorrow when I can get some help.

I have 54 eggs in the incubator... Some Dom, Buckeye, Orp, EE and a project... Not really a project but just a for fun breeding...

My first eggs go into lockdown on Tuesday but I have my grandpas funeral Tuesday so I’ll probably put them in on Monday evening...
