Surviving Minnesota!

:gigAhhh shooot. Funny Bobbi. They were so comfortable, I remember.

I hope the hips are keeping you mobile though...
I'm starting to feel mine. But I think its from stretching my leg under my desk chair and crossing my ankle. It pulls the hip tendon. I ate Ibuprofen for a year until my chiropractor told me to 'pay attention to what I was doing'.
The first hip was 3 years ago, still out of work from the second one (Feb. 22). No regrets getting them done. My cartilage had all disappeared, and it was extremely painful trying to walk, sit, sleep... Now I can keep up with the 2-year old granddaughter and get on the floor and play with the 1-year old grandson.

Well reality has been kicking me but not real bad yet . Got the tractor apart . Kind of ugly . One bearing shot . Missing one or more steel balls . So got into a gear and chewed it up some . Lots of metal in the gear lube . No idea how to get that bearing or gear out of the housing . Two different housings . May just wash parts and take them to dealer to fix . Youtube was no help . At least the housing come off . So no long shaft to carry with it . Splined and slipped apart easy . Finally somebody thought of making it easier .

Jerry I'm glad it's you trying to figure it out.

Our 2 year old 55 inch Hitachi took a dump. Do I take it to the dump or get a bulb? fixed...? It may be the converter (according to you tube) We may get a new one and then maybe try to fix this one for the downstairs. There was a good guy in Grand Rapids that did this that Mom and Dad used but now it shows his shop is closed up. Shoot.

I appreciate all the unbiased advice. Doing what’s best for them is always my interest. We aren’t looking to breed but if that changes later, I’ll be sure to note this particular bird. They must have a lot of eggs hatch out because I feel like if one has the genes, another would likely too but the other three don’t. The fact that this little chick was launching herself around and getting to the water, food, and heat in her own stumble way makes me want to try since she/he is trying. May end up that it’s a roo and gets a trip to freezer camp down the line anyways. But the Brahmas are really my pets out of all the breeds so I’m willing to take on a not 100% bird. Any meat bird or layer may not have had the same luck in the boyfriend’s eyes. He already is iffy on this chick, but being in the cities all week has no say.

Now to be a pest later, I’ll be posting some photos of my tiny surprise chick to see if you guys have a guess at breed. My really quick look had me thinking Copper Maran, but I need to look closer when I get home. Hopefully with the chick being smaller than the rest they didn’t send me a bantam breed. I want big chickens!

@Farmer Connie has a good article on correcting splayed legs. :)

StringBean you'll never really know if it's genetics or the incubator. Genes express and sometimes they don't express. But I'd like to think incubator too. I'd do the same if I had a few birds and time to tend to one that is trying so hard. She might end up being a good bird for you.

Can't wait to see the 'packing peanut' photo.

I had a Buff Brahma with a screwy leg/foot and she was just fine. I never used her for breeding but she was a pretty girl that laid eggs for us for a few years and then went to the canner....
