Surviving Minnesota!

Morning . About 3 inches of snow so far . 20 something MPH wind with 40 MPH expected . We may luck out on snow totals . Looks like it may be past us on the radar .

Ok, I understand the desire to be at the lake in Minnesota during the summer and autumn. If I was going to reside elsewhere during the winter it would be somewhere with better weather, and it does not seem that the weather in Ill. is that much better ? I know winter comes later and spring comes earlier, but there are other places that rarely have any (what we would consider actual ) winter.
There are two reasons to live in Minnesota. You were born here and have family ties that are too strong to break, and/or you are a fanatic outdoorsman. You know, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, xcountry skiing and so on. Even in S. Montana or Wyoming the winters are shorter and temps more moderate. Also more conducive to less challenged chicken keeping?

Well I have family ties here in IL. but considered something warmer for winter . Summers are too hot here and even hotter further south . Snakes , bugs and skeeters are worse than here . I learned to love MN. summers . Fishing was Mom and Dad's thing . Well mostly Mom . Anyway Janet will not leave her family ties here . So I continue to travel north .

Well now my truck will not go into 4 WD . So just got back with a new actuator . I may wait until Monday to install it . My grandson borrowed my truck for the weekend . He is parting out a truck he bought . Then to the scrap yard with the remains . Extra money is his plan .

DS got up at the crack of dawn and -26 f and went out to a different lake. Caught 12 crappies in 40’ of water. He said he should have got up earlier. (Cray cray)

Learned something this weekend. Burping fish . If your fishing deep and get a small fish that gets the bends. ( air sac overinflated and in their throats) you need to burp them.
DS had a small one that wouldn’t go back down the hole. You get a hold of them and smack them on the surface of the water in the hole and it burps them so they can swim back down. He said it worked.

She may be smarter than I gave her credit for.. I “bought” a raffle ticket today... when I showed it to her she said “this looks suspiciously like a scam of some kind”...

I have to wonder what could have occurrred in her life to make her so untrusting....View attachment 1646292
