Surviving Minnesota!

I am ready for summer!

I went to go ice fishing.....way too much work.

I need the ATV to plow a path onto the lake as it is covered in 3 ft of hard crusty snow...

The Trailer appears to be frozen to the ground and covered by 3 feet of crusty snow.

I was correct it is frozen harder to the ground than my truck can break free...

Doesn't matter, as it appears the salty crusty snow has soaked into my trailer lights connection making it useless. I now need to crawl under the snow covered ice snow filled truck to hook up a new trailer lights connection in the cold......

Once I get that all done before I can put the fish house and related fishing tackle and equipment in the truck, someone has to climb into the rear of the truck and shovel off the 3 ft of heavy crusty snow occupying the box....

I have decided to give up and take a nap, at least my bed is not covered in 3 ft of crusty snow and it is not freezing there.....

BTW the chickens are still on strike. One egg........5 turkey eggs and 4 cracked turkey eggs.....

I might owe Hoover an apology, but I doubt it, the toads seem much happier now that Bert lives in a prison cell by himself. They no longer cower in the corners. Bert is not happy in prison. I might have to drive to the place Hoover grew up and make a clandestine visit, swapping Bert for Hoover......

I don’t think Hoover ever wants to go back. He loves being back where he grew up and has the undying love and affection of five girls and no others birds to compete with

Snow coming about 4 inches they say . This winter is exceeding the limits of my medication .:gigI have been grumpy . So DW made me go with her on a grocery run . I browsed the seed racks but no purchase . I got desperate yesterday and took some hardwood cuttings to try rooting them . Anything to keep the hope going .

I started some onion and leeks seeds to put out end of march/beginning of april

How do you plan to plant them in the tundra? With the aid of a frost blanket?
:lau
hopefully by april I can put them out. If not I'll use that frost blanket.
First year from seed. I thought I would try some started indoors, some outdoors.. and compare to the plants I usually get ... already found plants do better than sets.
The company that sends the plants says put them out the end of march.....um ya usually snow on the ground and can't dig a hole. I tell them to ship in april... they can take a few freezes and snows... I put some plants out right before a snow and covered half. had snow on them for 2wks.....they did the same in the end
