Surviving Minnesota!

Ohmygoodness! Beautiful birdies! :love:love:love I love the ducks. I didn’t know they could look like that. What kind are they?

Hey, what are those weird 5 gallon buckets in the first pic?
The dux are khaki Campbell and Welsh harlequin. I'm loving the color of the Welsh.

The buckets are my feeders and waterer. No waste or mess. Those are the hen feeders with layer feed, they have small ports for the hens. I have a separate one for the turkeys,
it's up higher and has larger ports. This way I can feed my turkeys a more appropriate feed and the chickens can't reach it and the tom can't get into the layer feed. I got the idea from a post on here about cheap bucket feeders. Another bonus, I only fill them twice a week and once I reduce the flock, they should last all week.

That is so cool, Jen! I thought it would be some genius innovation. That’s why I asked. I have to look up that thread. I was wondering how to feed different foods to different birds while having them all together.

My turkeys are all (except the BBWs) at the “perch-on-your-palm” stage. I did buy some high-protein game-bird feed for them and was wondering how to manage their food once I toss them in together with my chicks (likely today). I suppose they’ll pull ahead soon and I can finagle something. Right now they’re all still on their original batch of fermented. With meat birds in the tractor, geese in the back yard, layers and chicks in the grow-out coop plus a batch each of chicks and poults in the garage, I’m quickly realizing at this point that everyone is going to have to just eat the dry after their baby starter batch is used up.

I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!!

I had 7 eggs in a carton next to the stove, a bucket half full of eggs and she takes the three from my hatching eggs? WHY??????

rant over...

No sign on the eggs......hereby your problem. In her defense they were being stored in "her kitchen".

Sorry the sympathy train did not stop for you.

Ralphie I have a story might make you smile . Best place to hide something here is in the kitchen . On mothers day I picked some lilacs for DW . Put them in a vase in the kitchen . Figured she could not miss them . So on the counter between the sink and stove . That was in the morning . In the evening I asked here if she found them . Nope .
