Surviving Minnesota!

Good Morning!
No new bird deaths besides the 12 chicks and 2 hens that are missing. But I did lock them up good and am keeping them in all day for the next few days. They still have a run but not the extended not so predator proof run.
Frustrated that my husband doesn’t want to trap it until fall when its fur will be Thicker. It does have three babies right now but I don’t really care about the babies. They’ll just cause problems later. So now I have to move and set up the portable fence netting and electrify it to be able to extend their run and keep out the rif raf. At least I have the tools to do so. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Also as it has been a few years since I have been here regularly our 5 children have also grown and are now 16,15,13, and the twins are 10. Here is how they stay busy as Dad puts them to work. We run a construction company. The two girls 16&13 are in the back and son is behind the chute. They are pouring an on grade slab for a house in the neighborhood.

Good luck.

Clandestine trapping could be in your future.

Ralphie your off the hook.

Just had ANOTHER rain shower move through. In the last 2 days we have had almost another inch of rain on top of the nearly 5 inches I believe we had last week. The Northland is soaked and the state insect is increasing in numbers exponentially! Now we need a dry spell.

I did candle my set eggs quickly today. I set them Sunday. I am happy to say that out of the 27 I think only 3 or 4 maybe clear. I’ll wait until I candle them next Friday before I take out the ones not growing. Then I’ll just leave them be until hatch. These are the Dom eggs. There are 3 extra eggs from the coop just to fill up the incubator too.

Duluth is officially 6+ inches short of rain since Jan. 1. Here I am even more dry, as Duluth has had some rain when I have got none. Less than 1/2 inch total since I put the rain guage out this spring. The lawn is worse than I have seen it previously in my nearly 40 years in this location.
However the chickens are not complaining yet?
