Surviving Minnesota!

Ralphie, I am quite unhappy with your wishes coming true. You wished for good ice making weather and according to the latest forecast here the high temps for Sat., Sun., and Monday are to be -5 to -7. I was quite happy with what we have been having !
Next we will be told about some raffle prize you have won I suspect.

I went looking at raffle prizes today. Not sure which raffle to enter. I love the cold, it’s making ice!

You will really love what is coming Sunday and Monday . Hey I saw a little sap flow on the warmer days . Broken branches on the maple . Watch those raffles . It is too cold to be sleeping alone on the porch .

I wish I had tapped my trees in November . I could gotten several gallons of syrup then.

The sap is suppose to flow any time the temps are 20’s at night and around 40 during the day. I have read about people that tap spring and fall.

I just worried about taking too much sap from a tree and hurting it (as in killing it) or getting a bacteria in the tap hole or lines.

I try to keep the holes 4 inches away from an old hole and some of my trees have quite a few scars already from my drill.

Next week could be long John and parka Week here.
