Some battle axe at one of those informational stops between Duluth and Grand Marias tried to tell us lupine was invasive in MN, and should be removed. Even had it on her little poster. I was going to make some comment about the Forest Service and DNR releasing one pest to combat another pest, but bit my tongue.

She probably had it confused with purple leaf strife.
 
So it seems there are 2 wild lupines in MN one native one invasive . Never saw either one . All I ever see is the Russel hybrid type blooming . I will try to get some native .
