Unfortunately Ivie...Sadie's puppyhood is getting compared to our previous dog. And it's not really fair to Sadie. I think I'm getting old though for this crap and I'm wanting someone else in the family to deal with it.

I totally get the comparison thing and as stated before, I think I am getting too old to start over again. And, totally again, I get the exhaustion with this pup. Don't puppy her - when you say sit she had better sit - NOW! That is how strict it will have to be - unfortunately. She cannot get away with anything for a while. Sorry girlfriend.

I have one that eats eggs, but it made the ladies stop laying on the floor & back in the nest box. He kept going in through the chicken door. We took some scrap 2x2 and mounted it on the door opening.

Chickens can go in & out, big fat rottie can't. He tried it and got stuck. Think Winnie the Poo.

Training is really the answer, but I liked that all the hens started using the boxes again.

I like the idea of a free range nest box. I may have to teach this dog to only eat eggs I give him.

She's slippery and quite a master of small spaces even. But I do like your 2 x 2 idea. I could try it.... I suggested this to DH just now and he kind of said the same thing I did only more foul in description and referring to her as a snake.
