After trying to get some genetic answers recently I decided this is the best way to find the answer .

OK here is some info worth knowing on fertility after removing a rooster . I just candled last weeks eggs '. Lots of clears . So I checked which pen produced them 1 for all other pens . The pen that had the white rooster I removed 19 clears and 14 fertile . A weeks gather . I think this went to day 10 after the rooster was gone . Shows how fast fertility drops . This is why I save for a week ( usually ) then put in a new rooster and start saving on day 14 . I removed the rooster mid week . Slow getting it done .

Well for best results no more than 1 day past due date . You can go longer but there will be some losses . The temp seems to dehydrate them . I have put them in chick boxes and kept them as a experiment . Better survival . I did this when I shipped chicks to see how they fared at home versus the shipped ones .

Ok I have to leave and wont be back till Friday night and I have chicks chirping in tge incubator right now! If I put water in the incubator in a shallow dish would they be fine??

The problem with water in the incubator is you will drive the humidity up. Do you have any place else you can put them? Do you mean chicks chirping or eggs chirping?

If you have eggs chirping today, you should be ok if they hatch tomorrow. IMHO.

The eggs are chirping. I think they'll hatch tommorrow sometime. I have to put a small thing in there to keep humidity up anyways. I always do that instead of fill the chanels

I do too. once they start hatching they will keep the level up on their own, Use something with a small mouth or throat so it does not get too high..

I am going to the NWTF banquet! I am going to try get them all powdered but that has proven to be dificult!!
