Surviving Minnesota!

I still don't have the snow blower off and the mowing deck on, I better get the lead out!
I love your videos, wish I could do that.

Great ventilation!

I have to share a few pictures of our new family member(s).... Meet Harry the Mini Lop. It's been an adventure around our house. Ducklings, a bunny, and chicks. DH is about done with the hutch, so it'll be nice moving him into the garage until the weather perks up. He's a bit of a Houdini in his cage. On a chicken side note, I'm hoping my BCM pullets start laying soon. They're getting some good red around the face. They're about 22 weeks now. I need more eggs!
Its so fluffy!! I want one now! The ducklings are adorable! I didnt know the Khakis were chocolate colored? The BCM is beautiful!

@NathanZee , I've noticed my Khaki's have become a bit more timid. They have no issues being handled, but last night I tossed a small amount of hay in their brooder thinking it would help keep them warmer. They'd run up to it, lay down, run away again, run back to it, peck at it, lay down, scoot a bit closer, then run again. It was actually pretty amusing! I just don't recall my Khaki's being such wusses in the past. Did you notice this behavior when you got yours?
If you want them to be tame, you will have to spend a lot of time with them. I think they were probably just curious but cautious!

Mine definitely did that running to and from new stuff, it was almost as if they thought being there long would kill them!

That's pretty cool! Were your chickens like, I don't think so lady.....

No, actually I think they liked it, they started digging in the dried grass I had collected for bedding. The coop is just for games, we don't actually keep them in it overnight :p

Just a few pics.

Is this a blue Cochin? She's beautiful! I'm getting some Cochin bantam chicks tomorrow (will post pics) and some will be blue

I have only used them for my broilers and I put 2 5-gallon pails in each tractor for 20-15 birds and top them off 2x a day because they drink so much!

I don't see why this couldn't work for layers too as long as there is always water available from them and there are enough cups. I think the supplier said 1 cup per 10 birds??
We will have approx 40. I will have 1 drinking cup for 6 birds, it is hooked up to a 40 gallon barrel, hopefully once a day or every other day fill. Do you use Apple Cider Vinegar in the buckets to help keep scum/slime down?

Sheis a bantam standard cross. She has cross tail though!

Have any of you ever used the Nipple waterers.
If I am able to get the chickens I want, and cull the ones I don't want I may get the Nipple waterer but I want to see if you guys have had good experience with them

You should get two bunnies! Peer pressure. Yup, they're chocolate when little and pretty much maintain it to some extent. My Khaki's will be khaki and dark colored. I have seen white, but never owned one. Next to Wyandottes and Cochins, Black Copper Marans are one of my favorite breeds. They have a fun personality, but can be overly friendly and curious. I had two follow me to the mailbox yesterday, which is a bit of hike from where they hang out. But I suppose it's all on how you raise them. These ones were with us all of the time.

Good times! I make sure I handle them a few times a day. I don't need lap ducks, but I do want to make sure they'll go to their coop at night without any complaints.

ACV would be a good addition but I don't use it. I have to wipe out my buckets once a week because my water is hard
