Ralphie, from this point on you will not be able to add birds to your operation unless they come from an NPIP certified flock. Is that not correct?
I know some that are NPIP certified sell chicks and birds without issuing the certificate, which complicates things.
I assume the large hatcheries are NPIP, but when they sell chicks they do not issue a certificate. How does that factor in?

Those muscle spasms are likely more the result of inadequate consumption of the proper beverages.

You paid a fee to go to the class related to NPIP, but there was no charge for the whole process yesterday? Even though one of your Tom Turkeys made sexual advances toward one of the Vets?
How many birds did you have to test? I know it was the whole flock, but what is that number?

I had to test everything over 4 months old, So that was 49 chickens, 13 turkeys and 12 guineas.

The class had a nominal fee, it went to the lunch and motel more than the instructors I am guessing. They did feed us there and had Horry Devveries on the back table all day along with bad coffee for us caffeine addicts.

When buying from a hatchery I need to ask for a statement of origin. They are suppose give them free if asked for.

I think JJ could be getting sued, I have emancipated him so I am not libel for his poor judgment and improper actions.

There is a way to bring in birds from a non-flock, I asked about that at class and they were curt in their response saying "all birds must come from a NPIP flock".

I asked yesterday and got a way better answer. They gave me a guise sheet for bringing a bird in. It is not that hard. If I was to get a bird from you, I would just have to test the bird before the "sale" is complete. Then I bring the bird back here and quarantine it for 30 days. Which is not a big deal, I keep them separate for 2-3 weeks now, so they get use to me and just incase anyways. It makes sense, as none of know for sure one of our birds does not have something new in it. Then after 30 days before I release it into my flock, I have to retest it. I would have to send in the test results to the state and list it as a sale is all, and keep the records for myself.

It will make it better for me to bring in quality birds if I see one I want somewhere, or if you come across some you think I need.


BTW You can not believe all the good things they said about your PC's! I was trying to brag up my little Creamettes and all they wanted to talk about were the PC's.....I know I told you this yesterday, but it just went on and on, they never shut up about how nice they were. The one lady vet eve did the trim job on the ones Vet. She asked me if she could as she had never done that. Then asked me if it looked right. Like I had any idea. I had never heard of doing that until Jerry told us.


I hope that gets us some chicks! I took the EE's out of The pen with Ed. It appeared based on the back of one of the EE's that Ed was being quite monogamous to the one EE. A LOT!

Still in my jamas and have already covered alot of ground around the house and let the chickens out of their coop. Yesterday I made two chicken aprons. One apron needs to be replaced and it takes 15 minutes to do so I will do that before I even get dressed. I will take pictures in just awhile.

That is so cool that you're certified now!!
Eventually I want to become certified. I just don't know the steps of how to get certified
