Surviving Minnesota!

I doubt you do, I have not seen a porcupine down here in 50 years. The last time was at my Great Grandpa's farm.  ( I never knew my Great Grandpa, but my Grandpa and his brother kept his farm for several years after my Great Grandma died, whom I did know) and after that interesting tidbit I will move on.  (BTW she was even older than EJB's 98 years when she passed)....

Glad you survived the winds.

I felt bad for my CXs as they spent the night in a box that was only just big enough for them. They probably appreciated being out of the storm though. They are only about 1/2 feathered so it wouldn't take too much to get them soaked and chilled. Plus I worried they would blow away! They were happy to run about and nibble the grass this AM when I took them back out

My DH is like that, always helping people which is very nice! but sometimes I want him to stay home and do things here that need to get done... and I don't mean that in a ______ way.
If you lived by us Ralphie my DH could help you and you could help us

it would be the perfect set up!!!

I stay here mainly. they use my tools and my shop to fix and make things... It would be nice to have someone help me once though. It drives the WWD nuts and she complains to me about never saying. No. Maybe my saying "yes" is done subconsciously as a passive aggressive response to her....

There is nothing better than the first cup of coffee after you open a can. I ran out of coffee last Thursday and couldn't make it to the store until yesterday afternoon. It was a miserable few mornings.

I am enjoying the richness of the fresh coffee

Got my hatching eggs in the mail . All intact . So now crossing my fingers for a hatch . Anxious for my hatch this week . Quite a few Legbar and Legbar X white Ameraucana in there . Not sure if I can not peek in there before tomorrow PM . Thinking about the Breda type comb . I could make that . Easier if I could borrow it . Short on ingredients for the mix . Maybe a future project .

I hate spending $$$ on that stupid deductible. When I was raising kids that DH worked at Toro. Great health insurance! I was fortunate enough to appreciate the coverage. Dental included too. My DH NOW is self-employed and our deductible is $6,000. Ugh! Last year we met that deductible because of my eyes - they just happen when you are growing older - and growing older is a goooooood thing most of the time. So you have my sympathies on the health insurance deductibles.

I agree about the shade. They need it during those hot summer days. Having a portion of the run on cement would not be too bad. But if its a big yard why not choose somewhere that they can scratch and have shade. During the winter the coop and run will most likely be covered from the wind so Spring, Summer and Fall it might be good to have a breeze blowing (not a wind) through to cool it down also. What do you think about this chickeners?
