Surviving Minnesota!

I finally found those plastic baskets for my Keurig 2.0 where a person can use their own beans. Always fresh. Still get some Keurig cups when they are super cheap but I do feel guilty about throwing them away.

No porcupines around here - that I have seen. We have everything else and you can tell during the breeding seasons' when there is an abundance because there are bodies on the highway.

We use them some, but we use the k-cups also. You can get them pretty cheap if you look. Even Menards has them once in a while.

We are also thinking about getting some shirts printed for at the market stall. Thoughts?

I think this is a good idea. That way when customers are talking about you to their friends they will describe you as those ones that where the red t-shirts, can't miss them at the farmers market. Just don't wear the t-shirts around the coop - LOL.

My god did we get rain down here in southwestern MN last night! It started about 7 and was heavy off and on all night. Thank god most of the tornado sirens went off about an hour east of me. I got home from work about 11pm and did something I haven't done since I was a kid...pick nightcrawlers for fishing! They were all over the sidewalks and poking out of the flower beds. If the weather breaks at all in the next few days, I get to take my kid fishing. They charge $4 a dozen at our local convenience store and $5 if you get them out at the hardware store. The old guy that sold bait out of his garage every summer finally retired. My kid just turned 5 so has a blast going after those sunnies and perch. I have to wait til I go with my brother for bigger stuff.

So good morning chickeners. It is getting dark outside - again - getting ready to dump a load of water on the earth. Everything is popping now. Greens - all the different shades of greens. Beautiful.

I was watching the new flock of 11 this morning. This flock includes SC's flock mates; one is Reggie (short for Reginald and the other is Regina and they are now 11 weeks old. Two CLB and ohh so regal. The there are three SS which are 8 weeks old and I am still not sure if any are roosters but I strongly think not. Then there are six - six week old chicks; two are White Californias, two are black australorps, and two are buff orpingtons. Reggie has a large (I think) flock of hens to take care of and it was interesting because he would peck the heads of the SS and although the SS did not submit he was doing his rooster things - like herding them - already. Little gipper. I haven't handled this bunch too much. I have been talking to them more while I feed and water them. Once in a while I hold one and they find that they like that. Snuggle right in. I better get a hold on Reggie though. He needs to get real used to me being the boss.

Lovin the weather - need to work in the office allllll day to day.

That's not coffee that's a "FuFu' drink!

I thought I'd do something nice for my husband and make him homemade goooy caramel rolls for breakfast and all he could say was I made noise and disturbed
his quiet Saturday morning. So I decided I was going to eat them all myself and get fat. They are really good :p

I'll come over for breakfast anytime =)

I got the pigeons! One Baldhead Birmham Roller pair, one Crested Birmingham Roller male, and one Yellow Birmingham Roller female! Plus pics of the two broody hens! Pigeons are so awesome, they flutter around so gracefully and their voices are so peaceful!

They're so pretty. Yes, the girly girl in me just came out! The crested male is, umm, handsome.

I should have been outside before the rain but I couldn't keep myself from these four boxes of flooring. It was pretty easy to work with. Vinyl planks. I have one spot that didn't snap in but it will be hidden by the toilet. It's hard to get it to go. May try some tools to help me get leverage. It was on the last row of plank.

I love your lights! I love the Edison bulbs. Where did you get them? DH always wants to know why I pay so much for stuff that is old or made to look old. He just doesn't get it.

Before I forget, I'd like to report that I met @holm25 this weekend and he's not the serial killer I envisioned. I like him....even though he had me hopping a corral fence in my delicate pregnant state =) However, my son now wants a turkey and geese. That's the only negative. The dozens hanging out on our property are not enough I guess.

Oh My......Lesson learned never leave this thread unattended for a few days. My sympathies to the deaths...my congrats to the hatches....

We were able to re-home 4 of the extra Asian Blues and 3 of the extra Black Laced Wyndotte's to my son's friend's Mom. They under purchased and lost quite a few. Upon arrival at our coop, my daughter (animal whisperer) sits down with dried meal worms to catch her chicks, soon she has 25 yes 25 three week old chicks climbing on her seeking her attention. So the new chick Mom sits down and the remaining chicks start climbing on her too...I wonder if the dried meal worms had anything to do with it......sure made re-homing easy.

Today, The chicks are in chick Time-Out.....no lights (other than heat lamps), no dirt scratch, and no treats for a week. They tipped a coolwhip bowl over and trapped a fellow chick under it while I was feeding them this morning. Then I turned my back to free him and one hopped into my bucket of fresh water.
