Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning everyone!
This is what it looks like outside my window

So my dads going to take care of the birds for me this morning.
Day #2 for the eggs I set!

Yesterday Dakota had a little bit of afterbirth on her butt, not enough to show that she's going to valve before May 3 though

Afterbirth? I am thinking it was just discharge. Discharge is a gooey string of mucus. After birth is the uterus coming out after shes calved. Just letting u know

DH turned the furnace on last night and it brought my bator temp up a good degree or so. He simply doesn't understand the consequences of such actions. It also makes me think I really need to get rid of my wafer technology styro bator. However, I find that still air is a bit more forgiving when it comes to higher temps.

Has anybody seen this Ameraucana listing for Welps Hatchery? I'm curious to know when I'll get a magical yellow egg. I think never seems reasonable.

Oooooo..... a golden egg!? I'm getting those kinds of chickens!!!!

It may have been discharge, my dad and grandpa said it was most likely afterbirth, since she is about 5 days from calving

Chick flix time!

I have no idea what these are, They are just cute. Some how my tracking on this batch got screwed up. I know a few are PC/EE should be a PC or two, and some SS, but I think they got moved to the other pen. It does not matter I am keeping the whole batch, I like the way they look.

Yep she should! Has she laid any eggs yet?

The drakes name was Ceasar and the hens was Cleo.

I may have to revert back to their original names.

No eggs yet, which I'm both surprised and not surprised about. They're still adjusting. I also think they're peeved I won't let them out to the pond. Cleo is staging an anti-egg movement.

Another question for you, do you think there would be issues if I kept a khaki campbell drake and two hens in the same run/coop as them?
