Surviving Minnesota!

I found the North St. Louis county SWCD. It doesn't have dates yet or really much detailed info on the spring tree sale. I was hoping to find some more info like a packet or something. maybe I should swing into the office in Virginia to see if they have something.
I am still checking out the DNR site and all their trees. Ooooo weeee I could have fun picking out 500 trees and finding places for them all. Can 35 acres hold 500 trees? :)

Ralphie I hope you are having a great time with future Mrs. DuluthRalphie!!!`

I've heard of people using blue kote but I guess I never did because I didn't see a break in the skin. But it wouldn't hurt to cover that pink skin nonetheless. That rooster booster stuff sounds good too...

How did I mix up jack pines with scotch pines? It's been a few years since I studied that I guess!

Hope you have all been well. Been busy so havent been on much.

Not my favorite pictures but its the only one!! Dont judge!!

1000

You guys look great! Those dresses are gorgeous. Looks you had a fun time!

looking good Holm.

I planted 1500 trees a few years ago Rhett on 13 acres and had room left for more. I also had gophers help thin them so I could plant even more in the same places...

About the Future Mrs Ralphie..... It is not going to work out.

She fell all over me as is expected and almost forgot the words to her song. She is really attached to her "foofoo" and giving the kid to her hubby bothered her and we could have worked that stuff out.

BUT she pointed out our age difference and thought that might be a problem. I decided it was, as she is way too old for me.

I am thinking of Seeing what Taylor Swift is up too, She is younger and has a bigger plane and a MUCH larger bank account. Also she needs my guidance to get her back into country music and whatever she is doing now. So for now I will keep the old DW. BUT she is on probation!

The show tonight was fantastic! Carrie was not the high point. Chris Janson was, (Money can't buy happiness but it can buy a boat) fame. WOW, I would go to another show of his again tomorrow!

Bill Anderson was great, except he forgot the words to the song he wrote, but recovered nicely.

@holm25 , nice picture!

@Bogtown Chick and @Cluckies , I don't have a rooster, so I guess it could be stress. She was missing a few more areas a wee bit lower when I was out there earlier. It might be a bit of a reach, but could the snow stress her out? She was the only one who wouldn't leave the coop/run when we did get that snowfall last week.

I'll add some supplements to the water and get more protein in their diets. I sat in the coop for awhile tonight and all was calm. I'll spend more time out there tomorrow. I have been tossing a variety of foods in their hanging baskets. I may get some toys or make something to keep them busy. I'll look into how to make the hen saddle. Awesome idea. I do have blu-kote and Rooster Booster pecking stuff. Should I use either of them?
I think it is pecking. I have had success using vaseline on those spot to stop it.

sorry to hear about Carrie but im glad you are allowing Judy to stick around a little longer.. she is kinda good with plucking chickens and only complains a little about overalls draped over chairs.

Yeah, who knows what will stresses a chicken out? The Vaseline trick of BR sounds interesting. I ordered a bottle of rooster booster pick no more. Gonna try that if they go back to picking. The blukote might work to hide the bald spot cause she is a dark chicken. I've had mixed reviews with it though seems to work sometimes, other times not (for me). I've also heard that pine tar could help as it tastes bad. Messy tough.

I also had cluck-cluck in pinless peepers for a few months, I took them off of her about a month or 2 ago to see if she is "cured" (she is the instigator)... we'll see. (i've taken them off before and she immediately started picking again,

) I did put saddles on 2 of mine until they had grown all their feathers back, i'd take them off every few days so they could groom on the roost and then put them back on in the morning, so I think that may have helped maybe? who knows. terrible habit.
there is also something called bumpa bits you can put on for a week or so, i've not tried those, they can't close their beak all the way so can't grab feathers. so then they forget about the habit. you have to know the culprit, and not leave it on too long or they could get a deformed beak. good luck.
