Surviving Minnesota!

Kloppers  I am planning on winning Saturday, so tell your wife to save the two bucks,,,,

How did you get lower level tickets?     I had season tickets for 8 years and never got out of the nose bleed area.. (before I got upset at Denny Green and vowed to never watch another Vikings game.)

I bought them off stubhub

I sold 6 dozen eggs last night!!! The first time in ages I have had enough to sell!

The girls are laying pretty good right now. Excluding the Creamettes, of course.

Good for you! I have been keeping a steady stream of sales through this winter which has been great. We are somewhere down near 60% efficiency for the layers but I say that isn't bad considering the short days and cold weather.

I had no problems last winter selling eggs when no one else had them. BUT my birds were all young'uns. This year they are pushing 2 and went through a hard molt and I stopped giving them artificial light until December when we went on vacation. I think all of those things made my egg production take a hit. PLUS I had less hens thanks to the Eagles.

I have been working of closing farm books for last year and we sold 270 dozen eggs for an average price of $3.20

We didn't start selling until mid July and didn't rally start getting into full stride until September. I look forward to seeing where this year takes us!

I was out making a new chicken door on my coop. Smaller in hopes of keeping the Turkeys out. I do not mind the turkeys hens getting in and eating my layer feed, they may need the nutrients. BUT the toms that are short timers do not need to be in there. Besides they harass the chickens when they get inside.

While I was in there this evening it got fairly dark. I noticed Ed sitting on his roost. He always sits on a low roost close to the chicken door to the run. I think all good roosters sit by the door. to protect the hens. No proof of this just my idea.

I reached down and started petting his back. He did not run, did not fight, but was very vocal in telling me to leave him alone. He was pretty good about being touched though. I do not touch my chickens all that much.

I found a "new" EE in my coop. I never noticed her before. I have just enough EE that look alike so I do not pay attention to them. I never noticed the "blue" ear lobes.

I have pictures of her to show you, but you cannot tell Judy she was in the house. That would be a big No-no for her.
The photos do not show the blue real well.

And next question is this a wheaten? I know she does not have green legs but I still think of her as a EE.

She's beautiful! I have a hen with blue ear lobes. She's a barnyard mix, so I don't even have a guess as to what she is. She started out laying a light brown egg and now lays a green egg. No joke.

Thanks Minnesotanice.

I find it hard to believe I could find such acute bird in my flock and not know she was there. She actually has a good disposition too she did not even fight my holding her.
