Surviving Minnesota!

I can't give any more ovations today people. There's some great posts on here today and I just want you to know that I'm not being stingy with them....apparently I'm overly generous.

So anyways....Jerryse, holm, ralphie, Rhetts:

I was trying to look through my pictures to see if you can see the fencing in the background but I couldn't find any. I know it is an investment getting fencing and posts and the clips and then if you do electric all that stuff too but I really like the idea that this is going to last awhile, it wasn't hard to put in, it can be easily moved, the animals haven't gotten out (yet).

Bogtown you will find genetics is really my hobby . Everything i get interested in I tinker with . I have conversed with berry breeders in the past .Could not get anyone interested in hardier breeding . The money is in commercial growing . All done in warmer areas . It took a long time to learn to grow the seed . The breeders did not seem to know how . I think they had someone else do that job .
Hmm have I exceeded the learn 1 thing a day rule ?

Thanks! I know what you are describing. If I knew 100% we would have livestock for many years in a row i would definitely go that route right away. We will see what we decide based on my 'alternative fencing' research and then go over all my facts and figures in our next 'farm meeting' to decide if we are going to mill feed and do pigs or whatever

Ah yes "farm meetings"!! :) We have those often around here. :)

I believe there is a strict "no posting pictures of chicks" rule for those of us in 'no more chickens for now' therapy. You really aren't helping!

BTW they are beautiful chick pictures!

Jerry-my brain just cannot compute genetics. Really I just don't understand. Your birds are amazing! You have a gift!

I was looking around for breeds that were winter hardy and one time came across the Iowa Blue I think it was called. What do you know about those or was what I was reading (here on BYC) not accurate for winter hardiness, heritage type, etc?
