We always kept khaki's, but ditched the ducks and went to chickens this past spring. Now, I kinda miss them. I've been tossin' around the idea of getting a pair of muscovys. DH wasn't a huge fan of my muscovy idea because he never really like my ducks much, but he thinks they look pretty cool. Close enough to a yes for me. That or I've been thinking about getting a bunch of mallards this spring just to fill that empty duck nest void. 

I would have Perkins or khakis but DW is fiercely against eating ducks because they are her favorite animal... And wintering ducks sounds too miserable to me!

I grew up raising and eating Pekins and was in my teens before we ever raised a chicken

Grew them out from chicks each year

How close are you?

I'm due in July. Not close enough....that's prime drinking beer while fishing time. I'll just eat more ice cream I guess.

Ice Cream goes well with everything, not just beer, so that is a good choice!

I just came in from Egg Collecting.

I got my first Speclked Susex egg. Froze and cracked.

I got a toad egg. but I had a second one. there is one Toad Mommy that refuses to use the nest and lays on the floor. Her egg is always cracked or frozen or both. I wish I could figure out which one it is and how to get her into a nest. ( I have nest eggs in them.)

And one Creamette egg. Frozen and cracked.

If you want I can get you a sexed trio or pair of Muscovy ducklings this spring. I will have chocolates, buffs and Blue fawns. Mine are also show quality. And I was right with the genders of all of mine. Vent sexing them is a piece of cake.

Just buy a few ducklings each spring and they will be ready to butcher before fall.

I think Kloppers is talking about the line Ben Stein had in Ferris Buellers day off. When he said that line there was complete silence, because Bueller was faking it.
