Surviving Minnesota!

Ralphie, I think that the difference between our resident Eagles is that yours are more urbanized, and consequently they are more prone to bad behavior. Mine are like good ol boys and content to forage on dead deer, moose and etc. Just a theory mind you?

You could be right. I know that one I posted on here was sitting about 60 ft from our mailbox and about 70 ft in the air. Judy walked down to th mailbox and took its picture for 3-4 minutes and it never even flinched.

We have eagles at the cabin and we do not get within 200 yards of them when they are in a tree. These just seem to have no fear of humans. Even our dogs did not bother them.

Klop..."we" is defined as the whole city of Memphis. Each of you individually probably own more snow removal equipment than all of West Tennessee. Mind you, not one flake has fallen, but our governor just issued a State of Emergency for the whole of Tennessee.

We are at that weird temperature, 32-35 degrees, where we are expecting ice then 3-6 inches of snow. They are predicting 40-50 mph winds. And tornadoes south of us.

So our 6 new plow attachments ought to have it cleared up pretty quickly. ..right?

It's just funny reading about how ya'll handle snow compared to what happens here!

Memphis, snow over ice is the WORST. want to know how us ice blooded, 4x4 driving Minnesotans would get through it????

we would stay home :) Wise minnesotans know when it is just best to stay inside where it is toasty warm and just wait it out. In all fairness, we have to wait much less time for our plows and sanders to come by haha

I think my county has a 4:1 person to plow ratio

@duluthralphie I had a rude awakening tonight when i realized that I have no experience in backing up a 2 axle trailer! I can back our 21ft camper around with the best of them, but i was nearly helpless haha. I made about 3 maneuvers and then i realized that the silly thing is light enough for me to push it as far as i needed to :) the snow on the ground wasnt helping my cause with backing up either

Klop...they only plow or sand a few of the major streets. Plowing a neighborhood would never occur to them. Oh I'm staying home! Schools, businesses, churches...already closed here...and not one flake yet! Ice is usually what we get. Snow is unusual.

Neighbors tell me it is the bad winters reducing the coons . I suspect they were a nuisance and were dispatched . Anyway the crows were not as efficient at disposal .
Jerry: they are usually so nocturnal that it's hard to tell numbers. But going by dead carcasses on the roads in the last couple years I'd say they are down. But skunks have been picking up here lately.

Memphis you probably would not see this in Tennessee then....

Minnesotans pay a lot of taxes for this. 2 Winters ago about 130 million dollars for snow removal alone. Fun times. Thank goodness I don't have to drive the metro.

Give me country roads and AWD any day.

Don't let any Minnesotan fool you about what they do on black ice with snow on top. It's not pretty here either. I stay home when there's ice! Big ninny here.

My coffee maker is worse today than it was yesterday. I forgot to clean it last night.

That said... Nothing to read over coffee today?? Not even ralphies complaints of nothing to read??
