Surviving Minnesota!

Too Funny!

A cat that helps you gather eggs, How Special!

The like going in the coop and hiding under the nest boxes. They would sleep in there if I let them. The chickens still don't particularly care for them being near by and I even saw Conrad fluff up and jump at a kitten that was trying to play chicken bowling on Sunday. I'm happy to see him doing good rooster stuff like that.

Here is this morning's Fuzzy Butt pictures! These are the Speckled Sussex. I am very happy with them, they are large, appear healthy and active, all the toes are straight and the feet point straight ahead.. I love the yellow bellies. King George might be a bellybutton but his babies are perfect. Now I just need to find a home for them. If I don't it is no biggie, I can never have too many chickens...(not Judy's belief at all).

And here is the latest white sport, I think I see a spot on his head. Which means I have a breeding pair of white sports in 5-6 months!!! Jerry And EJB, I can really use your help on whether what I see is the right mark. Hope the picture works.
I'm not quite ready to brood chicks yet... But if I was

I know what you mean about liking him doing that. Ed and Blackie would let the dogs know they were not happy when the dogs were too close. Now that Ed and Blackie are doing siring duty, flock protection falls to Sven and Chauncey, they are both young and have no idea what they are doing. I watch the flock closer now than I did before. I never realized the peace of mind a good rooster gave me.

I am not sure either will become good a good rooster. Sven is trying, but he is so busy trying to service every hen he forgets his job. He is Ole's kid so I should not expect too much from him.........

I would say yes, but nobody should trust me with their baby fluffy butts. My survival rate is not very high.. Lol...

Ralph those are cute chicks!

I hate myself... Last night I had to mark air cells on my eggs... Something bad happened... I was going to pick up the last egg... It was an Aussie egg that I was super excited to get a chick from... Well the egg was like slippery and I dropped it

I am so mad at myself! There was a little black chick in there which made it worse! I am so mad at myself! I am not touching eggs in the incubator again unless I am turning them or candling on day 14!

Oooh and I wont be able to show at the western wisconsin show. My birds will be to young still.
