Duck and goose eggs are time bombs .I am scared of an explosion... I had an explosion once... I was candling eggs under a broody duck... I couldnt figure out why she kept kicking out the same three eggs so I candled them and they were dead so I tapped one on the edge of a bucket and poof... I thought I was going to die. The smell... It was so gross. I smelt that for three days... If that happened in our house... U would never hear from me again... But I am taking your advice. No more candling till day 18

Thank you Ivie and Kloppers. I'm out of Ovations again. On this thread...I see no reason to be conservative. Pretty nice posts you all make on here. Informative and most of all funny. But when I run out I've got to thank you this way and it's not as much fun as racking up eggs. I know.
Yes Ivie. I love living where I do. It's the best. Although...I will admit since getting chickens a few years back I do enjoy a late late fall and early early spring. Nothing does my heart good like seeing chickens on grass. This Minnesota winter could be a bit shorter for my own taste and for my sympathies with chickens in a run and coop all winter.
Kloppers. I got a bang out of her this Morning too. She is a neat bird. Neat personality. Friendly & Curious as a chick. I'm a Wyandotte fan. I have to say. I've had two and their egg laying reliance and longevity has impressed me.
Is she your BLRW?
Yes she is. I got her from a kindergarten class hatch project my friend does every year. Eggs provided from Minnie. What luck to get that hen!
