Surviving Minnesota!

My coop is neat as a pin right now. All the nest boxes have new Grasses clipped from the swamp or ditch. The pine shaving smell heavenly. Before the birds roosted I got down to the coop and laid out their dropping mats so the shavings stay nice and clean. It's egg laying time and I want all perfect, Non-poop scuffed eggs. The girls deserve that for their efforts, right? Daisy also has her Orange Gatorade looking Save-A-chick in the waterer for her stretched ligaments.

All is right in my chicken world.... ( que the airy music for tranquility on the farm "call the cattle home" or something like that).....

(RRRRTTTTTTTCH record scratches to a stop.....)

I go down at Pre-Blackness. Sadie has been tooling around outside. I open the coop door:

Cookie tin heater is drug kitty corner to pop door. 4 inch diameter Ash Log -About 4 feet long (for low perching) is knocked down and drug towards pop door. How she was going to drag that through the pop door I don't know. But she get's an A for tenacity and effort. And the Orange Chicken Gatorade is all but gone soaking into my new shavings. A whole fount. So she grabbed the log which had the cord in front of it. Which dragged the cookie tin heater as she dragged the log and spilled the water.

The woods have lots of logs and selections for her to find and chew. Why does she want that one? Could it be that it has morsels of poopness in the bark? Yes I think that must be it.

Well, I survived vacation! My friend who watched over my chickens was less than thrilled most days. She couldn't get them back in their coop, so I got a lot of pictures and videos of her chasing the chickens around!

My favorite stories of hers were collecting eggs from under my broody hen. She's like, "It growled at me.....". Yup, go quick. Lol

Anyways, hope everyone is doing well! I hope to see lots of chick pictures - 'Tis the season

I have six Muscovy eggs in the incubator and they have 30 days left!

Keep me posted, Holm! Is it a surprise what color you get? Blue, chocolate, etc?

Yeah its a surprise. I can either get buff, Lilac or chocolate. I think I will get mostly Lilac and chocolate though. Buff arent as common as chocolate. Lilac is not that common either. Lilac is blue with a chocolate hue on the neck and breast.
