Surviving Minnesota!

Yep she is still laying Nathan! She lays about every night. She got smart and buried her egg in the straw one night so I didnt find it! Sneaky little bugger!

The Muscovys and Pekins are big! The drakes nails are more like talons that r scary. I am going to get pics of his "talons" and post them!

Ralphie, I don't recall ever having a Chantecler go broody. No Partridge for sure, and pretty sure about the whites and buffs, although as I approach 100 my memory is not quite as good as it once was.
Wasn't there a song about that, or maybe he was referring to something else?

Ralphie, I commend you for the political correctness and not telling us where Judy really said you should put any new pens!

Jerry, I think blackberry and black raspberry will likely grow from stem cuttings, but I don't think the red raspberry will be as successful?

Ralphie, I agree with you as relates to ducks and geese. They create a mess and in many cases are quite noisy. The guineas can be nosiy, but they have redeeming social value in the form of tick eradication.

That is weird, the broody part. I think the other PC is going broody now, I have had to kick her out the nest the last couple days,

The guineas have two redeeming factors, they control bugs and ticks and the wicked witch of the south hates them.

This was last spring, but as I don't have any new ducklings yet I thought I would post!

Cute! Are there two geese in there?

I need to get a tub like that by the duck run. Only issue is it's going to be pretty far back on our property and the hose won't reach. I have to think this over a bit more and probably go smaller where the water can be more easily hauled out. Then they can just hang out in the pond when MN isn't a frozen tundra.

Holm, are you selling Cochin pullets this Spring?

Minnesotanice. I was planning on it but Zeus is still recovering and is now bottom rooster. The closest to Cochin I will have is Cochin/Australorp crosses. They would even have ¼ Welsummer in them since the roo is half welsummer. And all my Cochins except for one banty are broody now! Dang things!

I believe the song goes 'I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm good once as I ever was'

[ @MinnesotaNice I rehomed a few hens yesterday as my BCM ladies should be laying soon, and DH rehomed the wrong bird. He gave the guy my favorite and only Buff Cochin. She's my favorite bird and always has been, so I don't know how he confused "NOT the buff hen with the feathered legs" with "the buff hen with the feathered legs". I'm pretty sure I'm beyond mad. Not sure yet. ]

Oh that's awful! I would be devastated if something like that happened to me! Are you going to get her back? Explain there was a mistake?
