Surviving Minnesota!

I really liked the MHP for small batches of chicks.

I do too and I like it in the house. I have heat lamps in the shed as it is too hard for me to monitor the MHP's out there. I have about 45-50 chicks in one cage in the dining room with 2 MHP's in it. They did not fit under one.

They would be outside now, but I need there pen for the adult birds for tomorrows testing. It is really crowding me and setting me back, but I will be glad to have the testing done even if my facilities fail.

Dandelioness the difference between a immature bald and a golden is size. The goldens look like they can pick up a lab and immature balds are smallish.

Thanks Ralph! I am gonna try find some bamds at L&M. I doubt they have some. Otherwise I will get some from Strombergs.

I tired L&M in Cloquet,, Fleetfarm, TSC, Runnings no place had them. I think it was 35 bucks for 200 if I recall, I got way more than I need. I wanted a couple years worth.

I am color coding my birds by species, in case I get any more senile and cannot tell a turkey from a Guinea.

Looks gorgeous out the window, but the wind has been ridiculous today!
One more icky day tomorrow & then it's looking good for a good while.

Hoping to get most of my garden prep done in the next week or so.

Finally found the door hardware so I can get my version of guinea gulag going. I'm just glad I didn't have to buy replacements before I found it. Ha!

Need to decide on a good spot for the dedicated rabbit colony.

And a very good friend dropped off two truck toppers! I cannot decide what to do with them yet. Maybe bunny hideouts? A meat bird pen?
I'm thinking I might be "over" moving tractors around and will move to deep bedding in a pen, with lots of weeds and grass brought in, and just let them (meatballs) range when they're big enough. I may continue on for another year. I suppose it depends on how far I get on building projects.

Have a good day, All

Oh, Ralphie - good luck tomorrow

Truck toppers!? I house a Welsummer roo and his breeding group in one of those over the winter. just raise it a off the ground with a closed base and it stay warmer than the coop!

I was hoping that one of my older hens would go broody but a pullet has so I got 8 EE eggs and put under her today, she is small so they just barely fit! Hopefully all goes well
