I opened the Broody coop today. Pew. I do believe there is a level of broody hormones that creates the 'lock-down' hen. And when you make a hen set long without eggs then give her some late in the game-- well you get broody poo clean up longer than a person likes. I at this point remove the native grass wreath and just go with shavings in the nest box for easier 'lockdown poop' clean up. Will have to add more shavings and pluck more grass shoots for eating for her if she's getting up less.
