I tried it dry, but it stays too low (under 20) so I add a small thing of water to keep it in the 30s. That is what happened to me, too, it got up to 90 when they started hatching. Thanks.
I should never have an afternoon Dr. appointment...
I normally want to be first one in at 7 so I can get home and get to work...I have a 3PM today and all I have done is waste the day because " heck, there is no sense starting that, when I just have to stop and get cleaned up for the Doc."
I do the same thing if I have something in the afternoon.
I have been cheating with the broodies . I give them incubator hatched chicks . It is a real pain to manage a broody . Some quit when moved . Some break or kick out eggs . When done right they are excellent . I let them brood a week or so and then stick chicks under them and close the nest front with something like pegboard or wire . Next morning they are bonded . Just let one out into a rabbit hutch today . Returned one to the flock that was brooding the mail order chicks . They are 10 days old and started good . Got another starting to brood . I will give her some of next weeks hatch .
I have done that, but like to use proven mamas.
Our barn cat had 3 kittens, they are all gray colored.
5 more days until Dakota calves!
I give up on my broody, for the last 3 days the other hens have been kicking her out of the nestbox she was sitting on the eggs.
Tonight I will put her in a less used nest box and hopefully the other hens won't make her move
I would try separating her. Then nobody can bother her or her eggs.
