OK,, I waited until nearly 7 before posting this morning to give "certain persons" the chance to beat me again.....and she did not take advantage of this......
I was beaten up I n a tag team match of Turkey Wrassling yesterday. They cheated, they both beat on me at the same time. They did not tag in and out like they should have. Those of you on the turkey thread know about this. I had three hens sitting on 8 eggs , all three hens in the same nest. I needed to get 2 off the nest before the eggs hatch. I decided to leave Ethel as she is the calmest hen and the oldest best mother..
I thought the other two would be easy to move as they just pancake when I came in the coop. DO NOT EVER THINK MOVING A PANCAKE IS EASY!
I made that error yesterday. The first hen flew up and hit me in the head, the second soon followed. I was beat about the head and shoulders repeatedly by a mad turkey hen. It is amazing how hard they hit and how you cannot see anything between the dust and the wings slapping you. They seem to beat my legs and arms too. I even have a bruise under my arm pit. I think they went for my pits and groin while I was covering my eyes. I finally got one outside.
The other went into the corner in the entry way. Digging a mad hen out of the corner is not easy. She only wanted to kill me and get back in the pen. I did not know she was going to be such a bitty about this. I bet it took 5 minutes to get her out of the corner. Whatever move I made she would counter. IN addition to beating on me, she managed to make a complete mess of what little organization I had in the storage area.
It is turkey wrassling season. Coffee called all in a panic yesterday. Her hen has been hatching for a few days, She ended up with her own turkey wrassling. She is afraid to go into her coop now, I think. She lost a couple poults but over all she is doing ok today. She is going to try to get to town and post some pictures and tell you about it. She says Porter is being a good Daddy. Time will tell. Tom' can actually kill poults just to get to mate again. Or they can be good Dad's I told her to keep an eye on Porter when he meets the chicks without a wall between them. However, based on how badly her turkey hen beat her, I doubt Porter will try to get to the poults. A turkey hen with babies is nothing to mess with.
