I got the evil eye and a "how could you look" from my two Dominique pullets I have been showing today. I put them in with a rooster (one rooster, one hen) for a couple hours. Rape ensued immediately. I felt so bad the one pullet ran to the cage wire and looked up at me and just cried at me. I knew she wanted out.


I apologized to her and walked away.

I work so hard to mate the right birds and do not do it well. like Jerry does, but I try. I was looking at the Dom's I got from Duane Urch as eggs last spring. The worst of the bunch is better than the ones (other breeds) I have worked on for a few years. I wish I had the knowledge some of you have.

Anyways, hopefully this mating will give me good chicks......

I just got home, my dads bringing everything into the corrals, I think, a bunch of cows were heading that way. I'm heading out know to do chicken chores and get them settled in.

I got ZERO eggs from that coop today! Nada! None. Empty Basket... I think I sold all my layers to You and @KlopKlop . Leaving me nothing but the feed eaters.


I am glad you got a tan one, I was worried when you were leaving and said all of yours laid green.

Well now I'm really glad I asked you to choose.

The egg she laid was 'in the chute' so now it'll be awhile before another because of the stress of moving etc.

I am an AUNTIE (again)! But this time it is no ordinary Auntie...it is Auntie to a niece! She is my first niece....I have 9 nephews. Auntie is my name and spoiling will be my game!

I have school 2 hrs late so far tomorrow and my kids are still on. They go to a different school than the one I teach at. But I am sure it will end up the same by morning as the schools are close to each other. Chickens are cozy in the coop. Already have inches on the ground. It's light and fluffy so the wind will have fun stirring it up tomorrow also.

Have fun with her! I have a well balanced mix of nieces and nephews on both sides. There are about 15-16 grandchildren on each side of our family.
