Life does that to us.

Another thing about SS...I like their classic stocky hen body type. They are also my most industrious foragers. I'm just backing up Ralph's statement that everyone need a few SS. For amusement... if for nothing else.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . .
I am frustrated this morning because it takes so long for my computer to move along while changing screens. Could it possibly be that my DH opens 20 search engines on his computer and leaves them running all the time and does not shut them off? Last night when his computer went to sleep my computer was zip - zip - zip. I can not think of another reason.

So good morning anyway.

The open windows on your DH's computer should not make a difference. It is possible if you are using wireless or have a lower Data level server you are pushing your limit. Do you have windstream and at what level?

OR you just need to reboot to free up RAM.

Nothing much going on here. Got some old apples for the birds and rabbits. The rabbits crack me up they grab them with their mouth and run away

. My little Cochin frizzle cock tried grabbing a whole Apple, so he just sat on it instead

The Blue Cochin hen is laying an egg everyday now. I wish i had a bird to breed her to. I'm still waiting for the blue pullet to start laying so I can hatch some of hers.
My Leghorns are the only birds consistently laying... 3 eggs or more a day from 4 of them. My red sex links have basically stopped. The Easter Eggers have also basically stopped. The Wyandottes and Plymouth Rock are doing decent.

As I'm looking out the bus window I'm noticing a sudden comeback in cottontails either thst or someone was throwing rabbits all over the county side

My Leghorns are just like that! And i rarely handle my layers. They will fly up on me all the time!

I might have to go get more corn this weekend! The ethanol plant called in a bunch of trucks today so there should be a lot of corn

Two nights of BB already under our belts this week. Whew! Now nothing but practice until Saturday. DD has a jammed finger. She was hurting last night.

Somebody turned down the thermostat last night! -6 F this morning...? Was 28 when I went to bed. Crazy.
It is a gorgeous winter wonderland out there with about 6 inches of new white snow and blue skies. Snow clinging to the trees, etc. Sparkle Sparkle. Love it. Roads cleared with the warm temps as well. So life is good and all the best of both worlds. Non -icy roads and beautiful white snowfall. Perfect.

Chickens: Still just the 4 girls laying. I wish the other two new would start. I have two retired hens (originals) so they are on a pass for the year. Although, I wouldn't put it past Sylvia to lay a small clutch again this spring. She did last spring. She will be 5 years old April 13th.
She is taking a lower roost as her and Junior do not see eye to eye. It's a pecking order thing and she needs to just submit to it and let him take the lead now. But she's a SLW so you get the picture.

Ralphie and Memphis I'm getting sold on SS. Maybe for that hatching egg order I need to do some of those too.

You would love a SS BC. They do not require any work to make into a spoiled bird.
