Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning everyone.

Momof3+2 good luck on the eggs.

Congrats on the new dog Holm.

The Doms do look really good ralphie.

I don't like wind.

Jerry you should wear the goggles, I think of that more now that I'm down to one eye.

I had safety glasses on but with the wind I needed goggles .

I should wear goggles whenever I'm in the yard, I keep running (walking) into branches

Ralphie, those are pretty nice looking Dominique's I think, although I have little experience with them.  Jerry, good to read that you are making progress and gaining experience with the lumber production.  I would like the boards in that unattended pile in Minnesota to be top quality.
Holm, it is nice you could rehome that dog.  Who will be in charge of obedience training?  I mean for the dog.

It has been Windy here for two days and there is some damage but nothing too serious.  The free ranging hens did not blow away yesterday, but they did get their feathers ruffled.

Ed I think you need to make a trip west on 200 for a meeting of the minds and luncheon -- take a break from hawks and such-- with Jerry Ralphie and I. We might be able to find you a board or two? Lol.

Lol. That's windy. I've been making soap without goggles lately. One bad slip or splash and it wouldn't be good. Sort of dumb that I've been doing that.

My hill down to the coop is treacherous. It is lumpy bumpy ice and now --over the top is snow so I can't see where I should place a foot. I have not fallen but ... it will be inevitable this spring. Sylvia my old lead hen was walking up the hill for scratch and she slipped and fell on her breast. Lol. Kind of mean that I laugh but she was in such a hurry. I don't think I've seen a chicken slip very often.

Junior took a lower roost to sleep next to Lucy. My big fluffy BLrw. On his other side was his lavender Ameraucana who loves him. And the welsummer pullet wanted to get in that spot. These girls are warming to him. I hope he's treating them more. Will need to sit down for chicken tv to see if he's softening to them.

Edited to add that Meeting of the minds will have at least one person there that is not Mensa...:gig

I put the box scraper on the tractor for counterweight . Worked good loading a log . So no need to buy . The winch is ok but I was having a time getting the logs positioned on the cross bunk supports and aligned to the clamps . It is tough to lever the log down the length a foot or so . Easier this way . I will add a electric winch for up north . Hydraulics eventually I think . Shh wife has not been told yet . I will tough it out until she sees the cost savings .

Holm be sure to get photos of Foxy on the farm. Or in town?

Jerry have you set a date for bringing your saw and chickens north?

Cluckies sounds like you've got it figured out.
I've been seeing more mouse poop back in the feeder since I've laid off the garlic powder. I think it makes a difference going to try cayenne around the base of the feeder on the floor. And I'm thinking of a closed treadle feeder more and more. I've had some mystery deaths in my birds (a couple) in the last few years and I wonder about disease spread by vermin here...

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . The Eagle is shopping. Its already been by a couple of times this a.m. Again - magnificant to see. I have plans to extend the run as soon as the ground can be penetrated with fence posts.

Dr. appt this morning. Hate those. I stay as far away from the dr. office as I can. I need the one prescription that I take.

Wind will die down tonight and be done. Yea!

Thinking of gardening and revamping - it is time - existing gardens. Do not need to create more space just more work as what I have is nearly 20 years old. Its the last time I will do it I think. That is if it lasts another 20 years. But these are happy thoughts while in lock down during this weather.

IS there anyway you or your DH can get a good clean shot at the eagle? If you hit it just right it will fall into the river and be in New Orleans before the feds realize someone killed an eagle....

If you do get caught, I will take up a collection to help with your lawyer bills. (with just a minor administration fee removed from it)

Thanks everyone! I will post pics later.

Did you guys see Mr. T made it on the carousel this week?
