We are visiting our son and daughter in law in Iowa. We decided we'd rather watch it rain here rather than at home. We've only got half the crop in, and some of what's in is now under water. We'll i had plans for today but the rain put them in hold...
Ralphie I am going to need a refund for Ethel Jrs. baby(not one of the poults I hatched but the second hen). I think you sold me a dux in a turkey suit! That batty hen taking a dip in the stream with my did today! She even got Mr. T in there too! And I have pictures of it too! Not of her but Mr. T... She runs away when she sees me but Mr. T just stood there.

If it never got above 45°F, I'd be happy as a clam. Can't take heat.I just couldn't stand it! I pulled out the push mower and hayed the field that was my lawn. Mind you it is not self propelled. It is really a push mower. The septic mound was lush and killed the thing 3 times. I had my morning work out. Ivie you would be proud of me. I was sweating afterwards MoM despite the 40 degree temps. How can that be? Imagine if this tundra dweller had to do that on a 70 degree morning. I am beginning to understand BantyChooks geographical desire to live where she does. I'm an up north girl myself.
bobbi-j I've heard about all your water down there. When we went car shopping we went over by Park Rapids and Wadena and on the way over we were seeing corn popping up already. Those boys really moved and good timing with the rains after planting. Kind of surprised to see it already up here on the tundra. but it was truly an early spring for us.
The birds are on my covered porch right now. Pooping and napping out of the rain. Was fun to watch them graze the lawn for moths and other bugs that are more easily seen after it's mowed. Boy do they cover ground. Now it's siesta time on the porch apparently.
DS is playing paintball in st. Cloud. DD and I at home cleaning house, laundry & vegging. I need to make soap. I just had some orders come in. I might have to buy another mold. I also have some material sitting in a box, already washed waiting for me to get in gear to make a baby quilt for a friend. Time to shake a tail feather.
Happy Saturday all!
Did you put the snow shovels away?In the Northern Tundra we have gray skies and wind but no rain yet. It is COLD out though! I mowed lawn with a hat, winter coat, gloves, and boots on. I came in and my fingers and toes were in full out attack mode from the Raynaud's disease. Took a hot shower to warm up and it felt like I was stepping on something the whole time as the feeling was coming back into my toes/feet. It is MAY! I should not have to deal with this anymore! I have at least one more chicken trying to go broody too. I pulled her out of the box and dropped her onto the floor. She just plopped and sat there all poofed out. 'Tis the season!
I'm sure the insulation helps the heat intolerance.I've noted this about myself , Banty. The older I get the less I can take of the heat. It could be that it is because of this extra insulation though....
