Surviving Minnesota!

That is a hard one! I have barred rock and so far, they are super layers. I'm not familiar with the rest of your girls! Good luck!

Lets play a game of who is the freeloader?

I have 15 laying hens and I am getting 4 eggs a day.....I have one broody Momma (Buff Orp) and one wanna be broody (Buff Orp) but the humans keep taking her eggs.

All my layers except one (Easter Egger laying consistantly 5 days a week) are hatchery stock hatched on 4/6/2016. I have a variety of Rainbows, Silverlaced Wyndottes, barred rock, 1 black sex link, 1 BA and 1 Asian Blue and one more non-broody BO.

I am asking seriously...because some hens are going to the soup pot to make room for the younger "spring chickens" will come into laying in a month.

I say make soup out of all of them and take 50 teens from me...

I don't have 22. I do have a 17. Caliber and it's a great gun. But for coins at night I carry a 9 mm and a 12 gauge. I prefer hand guns though. I love them.

I use my 17 over my 22 99% of the time, I can't remember when I last used the 22...

12 ga is the way to go on coons... I never shoot coins, I spend them...

Hand guns are for fun at the cabin but worthless in all except emergencies..

Do you guys think dirt as bedding in a brooder for CX would be a bad idea?

I have sand in two of my coops, I like it better than wood chips as long as the sand is forever deep.

I seldom have to clean those coops, the water is wicked away, and the solids just disappear...I suppose break down into the sand..

If you have sand try to feed them outside, feed droppings can screw up the sands magical properties.

I haven't used my 17 in 2 years so before I use it I have to clean it and have it sighted in again.

The handgun part is true :lau
