If you do wash them late. BUY Gallons of glycerin. It can help restore the shine. Along with Mineral oil and vetRX for the legs and combs.

I agree with Holm, A seasoned bird exhibitor taught me that too..

And Ivory Snow laundry detergent is also great. I also add some vinegar to the third tub to clean out any bubbles from the bird so they don't get soap stains.

Talking to a lot of the best cochins breeders they all say anywhere from 2-5 days before. I guess I'll see what I have time to do. I do Water and then after getting the bird nice and soaked I add shampoo lather them up with that, then I have just plain water, and then the last one is white vinegar also. For the shine I'm using this horse sheen we had back from my horse showing days in the barn. It works pretty well, I tried it on the cockerel a few weeks back. I may try to wash today but I'll have to wash the Cochins feet again before the show. Even with a very clean conditioning coop they'll still step in every piece of poop before I clean it out.

My, well I'm not sure what I would call her, but my "grandma" Susan lives in Arizona, she had 120. I could never be there either. I'm miserably at 80

I don't think turkeys would last long down in that heat either. Although they are pretty tough birds

I had an animal attack last night or this morning.

14 birds dead. These were all 8 week old's. It was in the temporary pen I put up for them. The ones I would have sold in Waverly had I been allowed to go.

I did not have a ground fence on them as I did not plan on the coop/run being there very long. I will be adding a ground fence today.

Whatever it was, and I suspect a neighbor will be losing a dog soon, dug under the wall and killed 2 birds inside the enclosure and 12 on the outside. Only one was eaten and the others just left whole. I think it killed for fun.

It could be a fox, the hole is not big enough for a coyote, I don't think.

I cannot see any tracks, the darn sand is so dry there.

Of course, it had to be Dom's and CLB's all the mutts survived just fine.....

Also, with all the sun time my birds have faded so much! I cannot wait until the molt to see their true colors again. But, I do LOVE summer! With that I will leave you all until Monday most likely while I enjoy a few days on a boat without any children. Adult interaction is going to be so relaxing!
