Surviving Minnesota!

I'll have to make a note of watching my patch of raspberries next year. See what's on the blossom. Do you think those little 'sweat bees' would be it? I feel like I've seen them on those blossoms...idk...

Don't. Do that! I have to wage war on my raspberries plants every year as the try to grow farther into my garden. I will GIVE you probably close to 50-75 if not a hundred sprouts! They are currently over 2 feet tall though and war will be waged when I return from WI on Sunday. So what ever year you decide to make a wall of brambles, which makes me think of Sleepying Beauty, which there is only one of in your home and her name does not start with M, all you need to do is plan and ask me and I will dig them all up for you and you can have them! I throw them out after I pass on what people want to come and get.
Agree, I have so many raspberry plants it ain't funny. They're taking over my chicken yard, not to mention the blackberries...

Anyone live around Minneapolis who would like a Easter egger rooster? He is only 8 weeks old and very sweet.

Good Morning All!
I was away on a much needed vacation to NIMROD MN. It is the one place in the state that you are completely disconnected from all modern cellular devices because no one has signal in that red neck area!

I entrusted the lives of 74 birds and 3 pigs with my husbands 2 nephews and my father in law. I came back to a huge pile of eggs, chicks that doubled in size, and 2 more pullets laying. I think I will have to leave more often....they do a better job of raising the birds than I do.

The 3 pigs were clean, 9 year old nephew said it was really hot so we turned the sprinkler on the pig pen and they ran in circles in the rain. Perfect!

Ralphie~ Get Better Soon....That is no way to prepare for the upcoming fair seasons!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4rth of July!

So tempting to take your little roo, Sedy75. We move to our mini-farm in 2 weeks, but unfortunately we won't be set up for chickens right away.

For those with raspberries, man I would be tempted to come get some. We have a patch at our current house, but the new owners get to keep them all. My sons have been out enjoying this years harvest already though. We have room for a huge berry patch at the new place, but there are no existing plants there. Also, regarding taming bramble overgrowth, my understanding is that goats can make quick work of them. Maybe you need to have a friend with goats come over for a day or two.

Ralphie you sure sound like me when I was about 2 months pregnant...Queasy, couldn't keep food down, etc. You know it is a possibility for men now with surgical help. ;)

Been a busy week so far... I got sick of all these dang birds in the house. I have most of my pens in the barn like Fort Knox now and largest hole is maybe the size of a quarter. Replaced floor boards, closed any possible gaps, stripped out all the old bedding, pulled traps, and power washed everything. Tuesday afternoon I could start moving birds back out there and it took 3 loaded truck full to get them all. I still have maybe 15 more younger babies in the garage yet that need a heat lamp at night. A couple more weeks and they can go out too, garage brooders torn down and can put truck in there again. So far today no fatalities out there... Yayyy

I can sound more like you..

I went out and found something had gotten into the guinea Gulag and killed at least 20 3/4 grown birds outright including most of white legbar shows and breeders.

I have a horizontal wire on this pen in 4 years of trying nothing has gotten inside. I found two places something tried to get inside but the horizontal wire stopped it. I see no breaches but the birds are dead.

I may have to revert to some evil way to kill them, I wish I knew what. With my going to be out of commission for 2-3 weeks I expect I will be birdless by mid August.

I am defeated!

I also know if this follows the last attack another 20 birds will die as a result of hidden wounds and injuries.

Oh no!!!
"Hidden wounds and injuries" sounds pretty weasel-like to me...
